Where would you go within 2 hours of BR to dine out?

Thinking about getting away for a Friday or Saturday night with Mrs. Slim before Christmas. Nothing too fancy, just take a drive, get a hotel room, and have a nice dinner away from the kids. Was considering Mccomb, MS and eating at The Caboose. Haven't been there in years but it was always good. I know Mccomb isn't anything special but it's not a bad drive. Where do y'all suggest?

Cristiano in Houma is an excellent restaurant if you feel like coming down the Bayou. Cinclair in Thibodaux is also really really good if you are looking to come down this way.

The caboose is a fantastic restaurant. You could visit Percy quin state park for a hike or walk...

I thought about that too

I would obviously go to one of the many fantastic world class restaurants in New Orleans

And risk having your dinner cancelled by a power hungry mayor? For a sure thing, I would agree with the Mississippi options.

NOLA isn't happening. McComb or Natchez both sound like winners. Natchez being a little closer drive. What's a good place there? Thanks for the suggestions!

My husband and I had a very good meal at Nuvolari’s - not sure about accommodations in Mandeville though - we just drove there and back

Growing up in McComb I can’t wrap my head around someone driving there for dinner. That said, really love The Caboose. If you’re looking to spend the night somewhere I think Natchez checks the boxes. The camp, Roux 61, Pearl St Pasta, Magnolia Grill, Guest House are all good options depending on what you’re in the mood for.

See if the Bay Town Inn has any rooms in Bay St Louis.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Decided to just stick with with McComb. Nice easy drive up 55. The idea of hanging out at Percy Quinn for a few hours sounds nice and can't go wrong with a steak from The Caboose. I remember eating there in the 90's back when it was still in Independence. Looking forward to it.

I would never suggest McComb as a place to go get away with the wife.
I would suggest something like the Southern Star Hotel in old town Covington or a BnB there are in old Mandeville by the lake. Lot's of good restaurants in the area and some bars, etc.
And you can walk the lakefront or go hike at the Northlake Nature Center, Fountainbleu State Park, or rent bikes and ride the Tammany Trace.
If not, maybe the Hotel Whiskey in Pass Christian or some small place along the coast.
Hell even going to Hammond is a better choice than McComb.

I live about 15 minutes from Mccomb. What kind of food are you looking for? The caboose is good. Cypress landing is our regular spot for seafood. It’s in Summit.
If you don’t mind going a little further north you could try HD Gibbes. Great steaks in a laid back setting. It’s in Learned , Ms.
