Heading up for auburn game next weekend. Staying in Prattville, but can easily drive to Montgomery.
Looking for upscale southern cuisine, good BBQ, or any hidden gems.

Good luck. Fat Boys Barbecue in Prattville used to be pretty good. Haven’t eaten there in years though. Going to be a lot of chain type places, shopping center Mexican restaurants, etc. in Prattville.

Spots I hit when working there:

Central Grill
Za Za’s
La Jolla
City grill
Charles Anthony’s

Baumhauer’s has pretty good wings for a sports bar, since it’s football seaso

Thanks to the Hyundai plant just south of town, Montgomery has a smattering of Korean restaurants mostly along Eastern Blvd (US 231). Nothing like the variety found along Buford Highway in Atlanta, of course.

For an upscale and very good meat & 3 lunch, go to Filet & Vine.

Pannie George's started in Auburn, but now has a location in Montgomery. If you want good home cooking, they are worth checking out.

Haven't been there in a few years, but the Capital Oyster Bar, on the river in Montgomery, was pretty decent.

If you are going to be there on a weekday, be sure to get a deluxe cheeseburger from Hamburger King on S. Decatur. They are only open for breakfast and lunch, but it’s the best old-fashioned hamburger you will find anywhere. Not fancy and not quick.

I enjoyed Charles Anthony's The Pub on a Friday night a few years back before a game.

I opened a restaurant in Montgomery during the summer just prior to 9.11. Prattville was the best part of being there.

Central

I had a very good meal here a couple of weeks ago. It’s in the entertainment district downtown.
