Bet-R for about 50% of the daily stuff
Albertson for big hauls. I can't stand the smell of the seafood.
Fresh market about once a month for Moxie, Smithfield Ham, other lunch meat and candy.
I also shop at Maxwells for specialty meats, brie dip and a liverwurst sandwich every so often.
I go to Calandro's for chicken salad, and Boars Head deli stuff.
I use Off the Hook and Whole Foods for seafood.
I go to whole foods for cheese.
I went to a Rouses in mandeville a few weeks back while camping, and really liked it. It seemed like a one stop place.

Oak Point in Watson. That owner knows how to run a grocery store. The employees are always so helpful. It's super clean. They have decent sales on their meat.

basics at Albertson's.
Other stops at Trader Joes, Bristol Farms, Whole Foods, various farmers markets and smaller Brazilian, indian, chinese, and mexican family groceries by my place.

Up here in town, I mostly go to Brookshires, but go to Piggly Wiggly who has good meat. We also do Wal-Mart which is not quite as close to home.
When I want the best steaks for the grill, I go to Moon's Grocery.

My wife has done some comparisons and Wal-Mart is the cheapest overall, by at least 20%. That's what she says anyway.
I think their selection and stocking suck, and their produce is not that great.
Publix is the next largest, and they have a great selection and always greatly stocked.
Other stores here include places like "Bi-Lo" and "Harris Teeter", both of which are okay.
We usually shop for specials on things like meat, and try to buy local produce as we need it.
With regards to Whole Foods... I really need to make the effort to do an actual cost comparison of a list of groceries. I was always under the impression that the place was just too expensive, but I've noticed that's not necessarily the case. They have a selection that is very good, and lots of stuff you can't find anywhere else. I think one of the reasons they get a rep for being expensive, is because they carry expensive options. Meaning, I can get the same $15 bottle of wine at Publix or Whole Foods, but Whole Foods might also have some $100 bottles on the shelf.
I am going to make a comparison and probably post it... but I think what I am going to find is that for every day food shopping, Whole Foods might not beat Wal-Mart, but will be right there with other guys in price.

I go to Albertsons because of the Ellottes and the produce is much fresher. They also have USA Today. Krogers and Brookshires don't.

If you shop at just one place you're not doing it right
- Sams for meat, cooking oil, some produce
- Walmart and national chain grocery stores for the staples
- Farmers market for most produce
- The IGA down the street when you need something right away.

Winn Dixie. It's 2 minutes from my house, I worked there when I was in high school, the prices are good, the food is good quality, and they aren't the devil like Wal-Mart.

Maxwells makes a cab and brie dip that is pretty tasty.
Their deli has liverwurst and marble rye on the menu. Add yellow mustard and onions and life is good.

Rouses is in South La and maybe other adjoining areas. I lived in Houma for 7 years and that place is outstanding. GREAT butcher shop on site.
