Tamales at all except my favorite local resturant. There I get the Ribeye Especial with a beef instead of cheese enchilada, double rice and double pico.

Either their largest plate of nachos, or stuffed poblano peppers if I know it's a decent place

I judge a Tex-mex by their salsa dips and their chille releno dinner.

I go for carnitas, steak fajitas, or green chili enchiladas. If two of those aren’t good, I don’t go back.

I’m gonna say fajitas as well but an ala carte cheese/onion enchilada (or 2) is a must

This dish at Don Jose is so good. They also do a meal that is fajita chicken atop the Mexican rice and smothered in queso. Kinda makes me feel like a kid eating it, but that shite is so good.

I like it all, though. Queso with brisket added in. Brisket or duck quesadillas. Beef chimichangas. Enchilada combo platter.

I don't think anyone goes to a mexican restaurant to eat light.. I usually start out with the chips and queso, guac and salsa.. Some type of combo works after that.. and their basic margarita...To hell with their Cadillac margaritas too damn expensive..

It depends on what kind of Mexican place. A place where I'm being waited on, I go for enchiladas or tamales. If it's order and pick up at the window, then load me up a plate or two of these babies:
