Marion Tomatoes are a good disease resistant variety, Indeterminate and a prolific fruit producer. Medium sized fruit. Nice acid content.

Louisiana Gulf States Tomato and Louisiana Pink Tomato were old tomatos grown for market and what you could buy in the grocery store before they bread the flavor and texture out of them . That was back when the store bought as local or at least regional and tomatos weren’t shipped, green from California, Mexico or Florida and gassed.

You can order the seeds. They grow well, are indeterminate, have a bit of a heat set and when ripe will make your kitchen smell like spring when you slice it to make the best sandwich in the world. Fresh white Bunny Bread, Blue Plate Mayo, sliced ripe tomatoes out of my garden, sea salt and fresh pepper.

My father called it a sink sandwich because it drips down your arms so you have to eat it over the sink.

But even back in the '70s and '80s, the 'Creole' cultivar was not used much by the local Creole tomato farmers in St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes. The term "Creole tomato" was created by farmers in those parishes to distinguish their locally grown tomatoes from those grown elsewhere. It did not indicate a particular cultivar.

The term "Creole" was part of the culture and often applied to both people and things. (There was an Easter lily growing industry in Plaquemines back in the 1940s. The growers called them "Creole lilies" not Easter lilies.)

In the 1980s and 1990s, the "Celebrity" cultivar was the one most commonly used by Creole tomato growers, but they also grew others. When someone in New Orleans purchased a Creole tomato back then, it was most likely a "Celebrity."

Creoles. I never could get Cherokee purples to grow well and the few we got weren’t that tasty.

Better boy is my go to hybrid. Cherokee purple and Paul Robeson are two purple/blacks that have produced fairly well. Berkeley tie dye is a good one, but didn't produce many fruits.

Sweet million is a good cherry tomato.
