What’s up with Jason’s Deli?

I don’t get this place. I’ve been to one in Mobile and it was jam packed on a Sunday for lunch. They opened in Metairie a few years ago. Went a few times then and was never impressed. Since it had been a while I decided we should try it again for dinner last week. The place was a ghost town for dinner. The food is just plain boring. It makes MacAllisters (which is “okay”) seem like Gordon Ramsey is in the kitchen.

I’ll go for the salad bar once or twice a year.

This boards continued failure to understand the concept of chain restaurants is bizzare

More of a lunch place. And they probably do a ton of catered box lunches for businesses in the area.

I actually like it from time to time when the mood strikes. Their Rueben sandwich is pretty good IMO.
Plus, they fill lots of niches. They're a lot of people's go-to caterer for business lunches, conventions, training courses, etc. They seem to appeal to a lot of elderly people who like to dine in there. You can generally please all family members, including kids, by going there. It is relatively inexpensive.

Their broccoli and cheese soup with a grilled cheese isn't bad on a cold day.

Yep, same. I love those muffins too. I'll destroy those. Plus some soft serve at the end. For a relatively inexpensive spot, its fine for what it is.

What did you order?
They've got some pretty good stuff. And the workers are always hustling.

Only thing they’re good for is a muffaletta craving when you’re nowhere near New Orleans

Beefeater or Sgt. Peppers sandwich and a salad bar is pretty damn tasty.

Salad bar, club royale, potato soup. It is what it is

Agreed. Most everything else is just chain average.

It's a big menu with some niche items other chains don't feature, pretty inexpensive, reasonable quality
Any chain with those markers will have success

If you're in a town with real french bread & real poboys but you go to Jason's Deli then you get what you deserve.

We deserve to eat a sandwich that isn't a po-boy from time to time.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what Jason's Deli and poboys have to do with each other. By that logic, no other sandwich shop ever should be in business if it's in Louisiana.

Santa Fe chicken sandwich is still great IMO.
