King, Chum, Pink, Coho or sockeye. One of those terms is used around here anyway instead of sam-un.

The "L" is only used in the spelling, not the pronunciation.

Been a yankee my whole life and never heard an "l" in salmon until i moved to louisiana. Seems like rednecks and ghetto folks use the "l".

The only people I know who say the L are my cajun FIL and his wife. He mispronounces an amazing number of words.
