Been looking around online and haven't really found something that fits the bill except "Our Daily Bread" which I'm not a fan of

I like the bakery at Alexanders. Also you can't go wrong with some fresh Ciabatta loaves at Whole Foods. They'll slice it for you.

Our Kroger has pretty good unsliced rustic loaves in their deli/bread section. Most of them are in the $5 - $6 price range. They will run it through their slicer for you. Our store has maybe 6 different styles. Maybe 8... I have used it for special sandwiches before and it worked just fine. When friends asked did I bake it, I told them, "No I had some mice lady at Kroger do it special for me."

I don't know what type of loaves you're looking for, but Whole Foods has a good selection of baked in house breads.

About the only place that makes their own dough is Our Daily Bread that I can think of. Baums used to when I was a kid but they stopped making bread years ago and Wayne’s Bakery is out of business.

I buy from Whole Foods mostly. They have a good selection and the bread is good but like most places they get their bread doughs in frozen from their commissary. They thaw and proof then bake in house. But they are as good as you will find.

Thanks man. Whole foods has been my go-to for good bread, but just figured there had to be a local business somewhere in the city that I didn't know about.

In an oven.

Apparently it’s open selling wholesale. I see Calvin has it. Oh well. They used to have a retail shop and I don’t believe it’s still open. Maybe I’m wrong. It’s happened once before.

Call the number on the bag and clarify for the thread.

Waynes is not out of business. There’s a different owner, I know he’s had it at least 10 years now, not sure when he took it over. He has cut his working days back as his help has dwindled with covid. But he’s still making bread. His retail sales has be been gone for a long time. He only makes wholesale, and works early in the mornings.

You won’t get an answer if you call. You always have to leave a message and then, he still doesn’t call you back often. I have special events in which I order many loaves of a special bread. It’s always perfect and I’ve never had an issue with him in the near 10 years I’ve been ordering.

My coworker raves about Maru Bread Company. It’s some lady who sells baked goods out of her home. I don’t think she has a website but definitely on Instagram and Facebook
