Made a grocery run this morning. Picked up a brisket, some chicken and sausage. Probably baked beans, potato salad and whatever to go with the meats. :)

Same as t00f.

Ribs, chicken, smoked tuna dip.

I’ll probably pick up baked beans and potato salad from Podnuhs. Or make my own. About twice a year, we love picking up Podnuh’s sides to go with whatever meat I’m cooking.

I am doing baked beans too, usually just throw them on the grill and let them run the length of the ribs.

Just curious, does anyone do baked beans from scratch? Worth the effort over canned?

I’ll probably just buy some bush’s and doctor it up, but I’ve never done those from scratch.

I use the canned pork & beans and add ground chuck, bell peppers, onions, mustard, bbq sauce & spices. We like tangy baked beans over sweet but you can definitely doctor up bush's any way you like them.

I’ve tried baked beans from scratch. Beans, molasses, tomato sauce, onion, bacon, etc. it was very good, but no, not worth the effort unless you just want to.

I like traditional cowboy style pinto beans with a quartered tomato, some onion, a jalapeno pepper, and a shiner bock poured in. Those take all day to make right.

My wife makes a shortcut baked beans starting with Bush's beans in a can, but we cant source the Spicy ones lately.

With the holiday on Tuesday this year, we did our big bbq yesterday. I smoked a brisket, a pork butt, a rack of spare ribs, a turkey breast, burnt ends, chicken legs, and sausage. Wife made her baked beans, smashed buttered potatoes from the garden, mac and cheese, and sweet corn pudding.

Our neighborhood we just moved to is doing a cookout. I’m smoking two shoulders and making a KC style red sauce, an eastern NC vinegar sauce, and a SC gold sauce. Wife is making slaw. Got to show these west coast folks what real bbq is.

I found this baked beans casserole recipe by that cajun ninja dude in a magazine the other day, and NGL it looks incredible.

This might be it. I don't have the magazine handy. It had a lot of meat in it, from what I recall.
