Kid order:
Jello
Fried chicken leg
Fries
Corn

My mom made me get the dilly plate because it was cheaper and I would get pissed because they would always get corn juice on my fries But I loved to hear the ladies say “Serve you?”

Adult order:
Cucumber & Tomato Salad
Chopped beef
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Green beans
Garlic bread
Chocolate chip pecan pie

Reminds me of Friday nights with my grandparents. We either went to Piccadilly or Giamanco’s

I went weekly when I worked at Sears in Cortana. That was in the early 90’s.

One of the few places where you used to be able to get good liver and onions.

Rolls were bomb
Fish was delicious
Beef was tender and freshly cut
Mac and cheese was cheesy as hell
Okra was freshly fried
All the desserts were good

Friend,

You remain one of the last beacons of hope on the Food Board. Thank you for your always interesting and positive contributions.

We occasionally went to the Piccadilly’s on Jefferson across Ocshner. It was almost always after church when the lines sometimes stretched out the door.

My reliable was the roast beef, rare, with extra gravy (au jus). My sides were usually green beans and carrot soufflé. The bread choice was always a yeast roll.

When Mother was not there, I would sometimes get the fried catfish with mashed potatoes and gravy and French fried potatoes. No matter my chaperone there, I was never allowed a Super Dilly. I have never had the jello or salad or a dessert there. Perhaps one day I will.

It makes me sad that there are so few Piccadilly locations remaining, and that with some of them, the quality is not what it was. What a grave loss to our civilization that it is no longer a cultural norm to attend Sunday services followed by a meal at a cafeteria like Piccadilly.

We recently had the misfortune of trying Hot Stuff, hoping its setup would revitalize the Piccadilly style dining. Between trying to charge twice for a tip, the overuse of onions in practically every every dish, and fried catfish that barely reached the size of a night crawler you might use to catch a catfish, we do not think it will last long.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

We still hit the one in Shreveport a few times a year. Catfish and red beans aren't bad, but these days I usually get a vegetable plate.

Best options include:

Carrot Soufflé (always; that's my dessert)
Greens
Blackeyed Peas
Cabbage

Mexican cornbread

One of my first jobs was cutting apart all their laminated recipes for a print shop. I did not keep any recipes.
