grape preferred. really enjoy blueberry and strawberry. will try anything though as long as its seedless. preserves with seeds dont belong on PB&J sandwich.

This is the correct answer, but grape is also accepted.

for starters, Jelly -of an flavor- is gross from a texture stand point. it's a glob of gelatinous goop that doesn't spread well.

Preserves, and preferably Strawberry- are best on the PB&J.

The real question is- how do you assemble your sammie?

pb on one slice of bread and the preserves on the other, or do you spread your preserves directly on top of your pb?

the correct answer is preserves are to be spread directly on top of the pb.

Griddle the bread like a grilled cheese sandwich and you really have something.

Right now it’s Bonne Maman Four Fruits Preserves (strawberries, cherries, redcurrants, and raspberries) from Costco. Prefer preserves or jam over jelly, which globs instead of spreading smoothly. Like a previous poster mentioned, I am over grape jelly, after a childhood of boring pb&j sandwiches. I like to pick up unusual jams at Farmers Markets. Right now, there’s a jar of elderberry jelly and lemon jelly waiting in the pantry for their debut. You didn’t ask about peanut butter, but I’d like to put in a word for NuttZo mixed nut and seed butter. Tried it on a whim; it’s now my go-to nut spread. There are seven different nuts or seeds in the stuff (no peanuts, I’m over them, too) - cashews, almonds, Brazil nuts, flax seeds, chia seeds, hazelnuts and pumpkin seeds. You can find it at Costco, as well.

Funny you say that. First had it at a peanut industry event. They just flip them on a little griddle with butter till browned.

I thought I can improve on this at home and I used a panini maker. Bad idea. Big mess as you say.

The key is to not overload the sandwich. Also the peanut folks mixed their PB with the jelly beforehand to make it easier. Probably a good idea.

They really are outstanding. Almost like a dessert.
