I'm in the market and I have read all sorts of reviews. Some scare me from the higher end sets complaining because they are easily damaged and harder to clean, etc. Does anyone own a set that they can recommend that perform well and not too terribly hard to maintain?

Which set Rouge? I was eyeing a set and the review on the set I was looking at said they were a pain in the butt to clean and you had to use "barkeepers friend" to clean them.

We don't have a set, but pots and pans specific to what we are cooking.

So both enamel cookware and anodized

This is what I have done. Watch sales at Macy's and Target. I got a great Dutch Oven at Target for something like $35.00. At Macy's I picked up a sauce pot for $24.00 (?) that listed for $60.00+. At Sam's I got a SS steamer that is also a fryer..Stock pot.. you name it.

Bar keepers friend is great. Not a pain, just a sprinkle cleans em right up. It is also great on enameled cast iron.

I have a set of pots. I don't need them.

Here are the following pots I use: 12 inch cast iron skillet; 8 inch cast iron skillet; 4 quart thick rice pot; 6 cup thick tiny rice pot; cast iron Dutch oven; enamel Dutch oven; 1 12 inch stainless steel skillet.

I got this set last year around Christmas: Lagostina Tri-ply Stainless

I use the pots all the time, but very rarely use the pans, we use cast iron skillets and a ceramic coated dutch oven more often.

Bar Keeper's Friend and a light-medium duty sponge (the blue sponge, not the green one) keeps your stainless steel clean without scratching the stainless. You can sprinkle some in your pots and let it sit for a while, then scrub. Comes out like new.

As for the enameled cast iron, Bar Keeper's Friend works, but the enameled surface is very hard to keep looking like new..

I have stainless steel pieces of All Clad, Calphalon and Cuisinart. I like my All Clad the best. The pieces are substantial in weight, it's good quality stainless steel with copper bottoms and the heat is distributed evenly. You don't need expensive All Clad to cook well but if you want to invest, it'll last a lifetime.
If you want something less expensive, you can search for vintage Wagner Ware Magnalite and get yourself a large dutch oven to make your gumbo and jambalaya.

We have stainless (Cuisinart) and I prefer to keep the opinion that they clean easily with Barkeepers Friend, rather than that making cleaning them a chore.

I think (if my memory is correct) Barkeepers Friend has Oxalic Acid as a component and it certainly makes it easier to clean the burnt on grunge from stainless steel and return the shine from both inner and outer surfaces.

The recommendation I would make is to find an all metal pan, because plastic handles eventually cause problems. I also like glass lids because they allow me to look inside without removing the lid.

We like our Cuisinart pans, but have several cast iron and a few other specialty type pots and pans that we also use.

ive discovered you get what you pay for. i have a 'sams club' enamel dutch oven that stained fricking immediately and won't come out.

my FiL bought us an enamel lodge skillet and soap, water & a yellow/green sponge cleans it off with no effort.

only difference here was the brand.

get a lodge dutch oven. you're welcome.

we got probably 10-12 all clad pots and pans for our wedding. It's amazing what a difference high quality cookware makes

also, the all clad non-stick pans are also great

As some of the others, I don't have sets, not that I'm opposed to them. My best suggestion is to think about what you cook or what you want to cook when considering the type of cookware you need.

We have a set of All Clad. Great cooking vessels but they need to be cleaned with Barkeeper's Friend, as stated. They can get funky looking if you don't. They are expensive, but the last set you'll ever need to buy.

A 12 inch non-stick skillet is also a great thing to have.
