I don't know if it's underrated, or I just perceive it as underrated in these parts, but Maine Brewing Company puts out nothing but great beers. Aside from Dinner, you rarely hear about their beers, but they are all phenomenal. They are distributed to 13 states, but you rarely hear much about them.

I just started hearing about them. I should be having some Maine Beer Company King Titus coming in the mail next week. Finally pulled the trigger and started doing a beer exchange. My first exchange is

NOLA ICS, Pumpkinator 2013, Divine Reserve 13, Divine Reserve 12, and Joie A Tous 2013 for Heady Topper, Hill Farmstead Dorothy, Arthur, and Maine King Titus.

I'm also throwing in a Parish Farmhouse Saison as an extra.

That's what he wanted. I hit him up because he had some heady, and he said he was interested in the NOLA ICS, DR's and the pumpkinator. I'm throwing in the farmhouse iPA and joie a tous and if there is anything else decent in the store thursday.

To live somewhere that would enable me to trade off HF beers for other people's shelf turds

Maybe so, but I think the guy with regular access to Hills Farmstead and The Alchemist wouldn't trade places. He's just looking to try somenrhings he's never had before.

So Blue Moon is overrated but Budweiser is underrated?

Boulevard is really great. I don't know that it's underrated, though. Their Saison Brett is really high on the BA Saison list. The Calling is a freaking fantastic DIPA, in my opinion (though I know some aren't crazy about it). Tank 7 is great, and their BBQ is amazing.

Their Chocolate Ale is probably one of the most overrated beers (in their area at least).

I also think that Schlafly puts out some really good beers. Their American IPA and their Tasmanian IPA (galaxy hops ftw!) are both great. Their "regular' offerings aren't anything to write home about, though.

Agreed. I love those two ipas.

I think victory is underrated. They make a bunch of good beers imo, dirt wolf and hop ranch are awesome.

I'd probably throw Sweet Water out there.... Their IPA is really solid and often overlooked. Some of their specialty releases have been solid as well.

Hop Hash, love that beer.

my go to year round available in louisiana IPA's are Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter, Lagunitas IPA, Sweetwater Hop Hash, and St. Arnold Endeavor.

I could agree with this, by no means are they a great brewery, but they are not as bad as the endless pile of shite that is poured down on them.

I would say Founder's and Stone are slightly underrated due to their availability

It's just not widely available, so maybe unknown is more appropriate that underrated.

I just had the chocolate ale. It was good, but not earth shattering.

Underrated?

4 Hands in St Louis is making some stellar BA stouts and doesn't get much hype. Their Volume One is outstanding.

Creature Comforts in Athens is getting some hype but is doing some solid work. May be the best brewery in GA that relatively few have heard of.

TRVE in Denver does a great job in a uber competitive beer town.
