I have always just done rice in a pot but considering a rice maker contraption.
Is everyone just using Instant Pots or is there a better option for making rice?

I used my instant pot, but with the time to build pressure factored in, it’s just as quick and easier on the stove.

Rinse rice, have the water measure from the top of rice to first knuckle on finger, bring to boil, stir, cover, reduce heat to med-low, 18 minutes, done.

I don't think I ever knew people did anything other than a pot on the stove top until I started reading this board. Does it really make a big difference?

We usually just use the microwaveable ricer cooker. High for 5 minutes, 50% power for 10, let rest for 5 more. Usually Jasmine rice.

The cooker will stop cooking when the water dries up and it will keep the rice warm until you unplug. And you can get one for $15!

Epic, is that a set it and forget appliance? or do you need to be there when the cycle ends?

Not at all. Unless you want this $350 Rice Cooker . I'm no OT baller, so I'll stick with my $12 stovepot.

The $20 one from Kroger with the non-stick finish. It's fantastic, and at $20, disposable.

I can't remember which one I have, it was just one of the cheaper ones that i've had for years. Nothing special, but i've enjoyed it. I don't know if I'd say it definitively makes better rice than doing it on stove or whatever, but it is definitely more consistent for me and a lot easier to not have to mess with when i'm working on other things.

rice maker contraption.
We got one for our wedding. Doesn't cook rice worth a shite. Only use it as a steamer now.
It's this one. Do not buy!

Just set it and forget it, makes life easy. As Stadium Rat said you can go about other things and not attend the the rice, it will be cooked and ready to eat whenever you are ready. This Aroma makes great rice and keeps it warm until you are ready to eat.

Yep. I have a six cup. Set it and forget it. Cooks and then shifts to a "warm" cycle. No fail. Easy.

The instant pot is great Chicken, and they’re constantly going on sale. It’s like a crock pot but does a ton more.
