I’ve got that Steve Rinella book on my Christmas list. I have a few wild game cookbooks but they’re mostly pretty gimmicky, cream cheese poppers and gumbo stuff. That one looks legit.

For a beginner cook, the Plantation Cookbook is a good gift. Recipes are good exactly as written. It was such a good starter for me. Served many of the recipes many times. I’ve changed the recipes at this point to my liking. I still use the crawfish cardinale recipe except I use more green onions both green and white.

Salmon, did you buy a hardcopy of the MeatEater cookbook? If so, where did you find it? Wanting to get my dad copy of it for Christmas but haven't been able to find a hardcopy anywhere online or in store that isn't back ordered.

The Encyclopedia of C&C Cuisine is a good one and I use it the most out of my cook books. I usually tailor the recipe to my liking (add or subtract an ingredient or two). It's very versatile.

The Joy of Cooking. It's all about the techniques not the recipes.

Once you know the technique and understand what the seasonings do and what goes with what, you can build from there.
