I have a mug from them somewhere, with their woodpecker logo. I gotta find it. I'll try to post a pic if I do.

Ah, yes we used to drink the hell out of this at The McKinley St. Pub in Lafayette. Monday was 75 cents night.

These were always 75 cents at City Bar in Maurice

I drank a lot of Abita Turbodog and Purple Haze in the 90s. And Killians Red.

this was my favorite but disappeared in mid 80's after A Busch quit brewing it, never made it to the 90's

it was Miller that brewed lowenbrau domestically not AB. It was intended to compete with michelob in the “premium” domestic market. and it was brewed and sold here until 1999

was my favorite too!

Yes to the Rikenjaks. Whatever happened to that endeavor?

The both worked at River Bend in St. Francisville. I think they left on different paths to other plants.

I don't know why I thought it was AB ? In Lafayette it disappeared in the late 80's, didn't know it was being made until '99.

the Munich brewery (one of the oldest in Germany) is ironically now owned by InBev, which of course owns AB.

Remember finding a couple of 12 packs of bud dry at the circle K on stumberg around 2011-2012

It was the first time I’d seen it in BR in like 10 years

Rikenjak's moved from Jackson to Lake Charles. They still have a brewpub there.

Other early 90's beers: Pete's Wicked Ale (mentioned by several others), Full Sail, Redhook, Anchor Steam, Guinness Stout and a few others mentioned by others. Then I started homebrewing...

Craft beer has come so far since those days

For sure. I'm having a hard time remembering what good beers were around back then. Abita Amber, Black Dog Pale Ale, Anchor Steam, SABL, Moose Drool and then a bunch of European beers like Bass, Guinness and Chimay.
