Why, you're just too cool for school.
I get not waiting 40 minutes for a table
What I don't get is refusing to wait 25 minutes for a table and then going 15 minutes out of your way to a second choice restaurant

When I worked at a restaurant, I hated when people came in at lunch and acted like they were the only people there on lunch break. Pretty much everyone is on lunch break, sir.
Most days I eat in my office, if I plan on meeting someone for lunch, I plan my day with a little more time for the lunch hour.
I was talking about dinner before a show, game, or other event.
Like you LL, I feel the same about humanity, just say it a little differently, "frick most people".

Wow.
What you prefer and what's proper are very different. I would never remove plates before all diners are done. I also don't begin eating until everyone is served.
I don't stress over dining out. Things have to be pretty bad to get me riled up, but removing the plates before all are finished bothers me if I'm eating in a restaurant at which I expect proper etiquette to be observed. I will advise the server that everyone is not finished and to try back later. Rarely happens in a decent restaurant and I don't think I've ever dined with a gentleman who has requested that his plate be removed before everyone has completed their meal.

You have a way with words, ma'am.
Thank you for saying with class what I didn't have to tact to!

Agree.

Ditto. It's even more absurd, though. In most cases, by the time you travel to another restaurant and get seated, you would be probably be seated at the first place.

That's awesome. I actually got to have lunch with the owner/wine maker of Molly Dooker last year. Really cool guy. Got to try all of hs wines. Including Velvet Glove!

Did you come to the Mansurs luncheon? I actually have a signed half arse drawing from sparky marquis on his method of growing by tampering with the forces of nature through irrigation. Very unique and cool guy! PS try his 2001 or 2002 Integrity Shiraz from back in the day (the predecessor of Velvet Glove). I have an 02 and 03 still.

It was the common accepted behavior when we grew up . It is the way we were taught. We can't just toss it aside like that. It is ingrained. And for the ladies out there, if your guy doesn't have enough class to dress to equal your standards, you are settling.

People that have terrible table manners. Smacking and slurping, chewing with their mouth open, etc. Mostly seen at buffets..... grosses me out.
You don't have to woof it all down in 30 seconds, they're going to bring more food to the buffet.
And they almost always leave a little pile of stuff that no one wants to touch, even the people that work there. A little saucer with chicken bones, shrimp tails, crumpled up napkins with who knows what wiped on them.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbarf.gif)

Yeah, but I hate it even more when I'm still eating and my date's entire area is empty.
My ex ate at a ridiculous speed. Always finished before I was even halfway done (and I am not a slow eater). It made me uncomfortable when his plate was removed and I was still hungry/eating.
Of course, some people pile napkins on their plate and move it to the side of the table so the server has no choice but to grab it.

Restaurants that serve red wine at room temp and the wine glass is warm from being freshly washed. A glass of red at 61-65 degrees makes all of the difference.
