Well he was only on WWL on Saturdays and the other low power during the week. Like 1350 but I believe he changed from that as well. Someone can tell us.

Eta: he's still on 1350 during the week. Been on the air since 1975.

Kind of humorous when a caller asks about the best Chinese buffet.

What was the issue about the German U Boat he had with BammBamm? That was the beginning of the end

Yeah, that really ruffled TF's feathers. Who was the guy who challenged him to meet at McDonald's and fight it out? One of them showed for the fight. then he banned the guy but he came back all manner of times. His name was Ridley, I think. That was some funny stuff.
I think Bam Bam and Amarone are still obsessed. You know Bam and Justagirl are a couple or they were. I think they broke up and got back together. Got all that in just one visit to the no.com forum. Not much goes on there.

That stuff was damn funny. I used to be on those boards alot back then and Amarone and Bam Bam would get under Tom's skin some bad.
Tom had some real thin skin and it showed with how he would get into it with people on his message board.

Like others have said, he is a pretty good source of information, but you have to know when he is pimping his favorite friendly advertisers a little too much.

I can't stand hearing him get pissed off on people who call in and give bad restaurant reviews about his long time favorites. His snide little comment about "that's never happened to me" just shows how out of touch he is a little about the arse kissing the restaurants give to him.

You want to really get him fired up, talk about chains or make a wise crack about him not really being a Jesuit graduate.

i just assume never eat at any place he advertises for.

but let's be real, that advertisement money makes his show possible. People need to realize that.

As far as Fitzmorris as a man, I dont really care for him, but I do enjoy his information and i enjoy some of the reviews by his callers.

"We've got Betty on the green phone. Hello Betty where are you calling from?"

"Oh hi Tom. I've been listening to you since 1975 when I became a grandmother and retired. I live on the Westbank."

"You call that living?"

I liked that old forum. Some good people on there. That gal from Minnesota, can't remember her name, the lady Katrina blew up to Denham Springs, Gumbo Lover and BRFoodie were probably the best posters but that Hattyn was pretty damn smart as well.

He doesn't have a plethora of advertisers. That never bothered me. He refused to recognize that he was treated differently and better than the average Joe. No way he wasn't. He puts out some good info, but he's a jerk. Still makes money though.

Yeah, talking about the Jesuit thing really set him off. Wasn't he kicked out or did he flunk out?

I have actually gone to a couple of his eat club things with my dad and enjoyed them. He spends time at every table and is quite likable in person IMO.

Does that guy Clark (I think that was his name) the gourmet truck driver still call in and did he and Tom ever meet IRL?
It was so much fun listening to them banter.

I think he was kicked out due to bad grades. He ended up graduating from Rummel, but he looks down on that school like it is horse shite.

If you have a smart phone, you can catch him on the wwl app.

I have been listening to him since 1987 and can credit him and his website for getting me through 10 very cold winters in Cleveland. So there's that.

If you really want to piss him off, call and ask for a macaroni and cheese recipe or what is the proper pronunciation, poboy or poorboy. That will most certainly get his goat.

As for BamBam, that dude should write books, the story of his jogging predicament during the peanut butter salmonella crisis was one of the funniest things I have ever read. I'm sure his law professors loved him.

I used to hear him on 1350 on weekend afternoons, but not since 2005. There was a big flap about some place on Louisiana Ave., don't remember the name of the joint, but it was just awful, I went there once and was disgusted. But the place was a sponsor so TF kept pumping them up, a lot of people called him on it.

He was a friend of a friend in the LSUNO days, so we used to hang out occasionally, he would talk non-stop, all the time, I'd think, 'does this guy ever inhale?'

I think the market is prime for a younger, hipper, nonbiased radio food personality to take over.

Younger and hipper? What do kids know about food? Just read the BR Advocate weekly restaurant review if you want a preview of that. There are only so many ways you can rhapsodize over the nuances of hamburgers and french fries.

I forgot about that peanut butter story. That was hilarious.

Martini, you're right about this posters, except for poor Hatyn. I don't think Tom enjoyed her hot pockets discussion. Poor thing seemed like a lonely character.

I loved that board. The entertainment was constant in addition to quality food talk. It was some fun.

Let me guess, some kid walked on your lawn and now you're pissed!?

Younger and hipper doesn't mean a kid. Fitzmorris is 60 something years old. He appeals to the geriatric crowd. A lot of his callers sound like they are on their last breath.

I for one do not care to hear him sing 30s show tunes while laying his kerchief over a puddle for a young lass to cross

Andrea still calls in and you do realize that when he calls daily to the show - it is a paid advertisement, don't you

That real Tom Fitzmorris website was GREAT ... but it must have been taken down ... I can not seem to find it now

NOLA is a unique place, and Fitzmorris fits like a glove. His act wouldn't fly anywhere else, but hey that's part of the charm. We are talking about the same radio market where a former host is doing time on a murder rap and most of the announcers are in dire need of speach therapy.
