Seriously? Damn. I loved that place.

Man... difficult to narrow this list, but I'll go with a few: Toronado (SF), Beer Temple (Chicago), ChurchKey (DC), and The Jeffrey (Manhattan).

Falling Rock is the best I've been to. The selection is incredible and the location is great. My only complaint is that the service can be bad but you sort of expect that going in.

Another place that I like a lot is Brouwer's Cafe in Seattle. It's more of a restaurant but the selection of Belgian beer is very good.

Hops and Pie in Denver is up there for me.

Conservatory in Houston is pretty sweet.

C&S may have an edge on it but it’s splitting hairs.

Two of my favorites are in Bruges.

1. 't Poatersgat
Enter through a little cellar door, then drink until your heart's content.

2. Le Trappiste

Yep. They absolutely ruined it.

They made the food way too expensive to start. To give an idea, they had a chicken finger plate that was around $8 that got bumped up to $13. For chicken fingers and fries. Just to give you an idea.

Then the bar tenders/wait staff was just awful and knew nothing about beer. One of the last times I went, I just about had to stop the bartender who was pouring my beer because she was doing such a poor job of it. Sitting there pouring a decent beer from the tap, trying to eliminate every bit of foam like it was a bud light or something.

The Thirsty Monk is Ashville is another really solid spot. I think there are ones in other cities as well. This is the only one i've been to, but it was great.

Bottom floor was strictly belgium beer. Middle floor was more local and others from around the country/world. They had a small top floor cocktail bar too that was dynamite.

Hofbrauhaus in Munich.

Was there this past spring. It was awesome.

If you get a chance to go to the Augustiner-Keller beer garden, highly recommend as well. It was phenomenal.

Same here. If anybody ever wanted to kidnap me, just tell me there is a really cool bar in a cellar. I'll go, no questions asked.

Bruges has some really cool bars if anyone every makes a trip. Another cool one just because of how old it is, is De Garre. You have to go through this little hidden alley to get to it, and inside it looks like a medieval bar or something. It is three floors with each floor only being big enough for maybe 15-20 people or so. There is a big gap in the floor going all the way up to the top.

They have a ton of beer, but the ones they make are phenomenal. They make their own Tripel as well, and it is one of the best beers i've ever had. 12% and they won't let any customer order more than two total for themselves, because as they said, we are there to appreciate the beer, not be a disturbance.

That's a damn shame.

It really seemed like it had already started to decline years back, but I was hoping I was just there on an off night or something.

I'll add to the list, Novare Res Bier Cafe in Portland, Maine.

That place looks awesome

One thing i've really come to appreciate with certain beer bars form around the world, is the attention to detail some have. Especially when it comes to the glassware. Not only do they have the proper glass for the type of beer, but normally they actually have the actual brewery's specific glass for that beer. It is just a nice touch.

When I was there last, they were doing an Abita tap takeover on the middle floor.

Man, that was disappointing. Fortunately there was enough good beer down below to make up for it.
