Making this tomorrow night using the Mr. B's recipe. I know they normally don't serve anything with it other than some bread, which I will have, but I want some kind of veggie as well. Any suggestions?

Grits seems like a popular choice but that's not really what I was looking for.

Guess I should have explained a little better in the op.

Was hoping for some sort of veggie or side dish that could be consumed also using hands, since that's what will be happening with the barbecue shrimp already.

That's probably what I'll do. Might start out with a salad of some sort and then onto the shrimp with some boiled corn.

No corn is better than Crawfish boil corn.

Roasted broccoli florets. Get them nice and crispy and pop them back like candy

Just do a good green salad. It'll be light, which is what you need.

I'm making BBQ shrimp tomorrow too.

I'm kind of craving tabouli and may have that as the side. Kind of an odd combo, but that's what I want.

I seem to have last minute been roped into hosting NYE party, so I'm brainstorming what to make that is special, but not outrageous.

This might be a good idea. I love to make it.

As for a side, if you're looking veggie instead of grits, I'd definitely go green. Personally, I would do smothered mustard/collard greens. But roasted asparagus could work.

If the BBQ shrimp are indeed head and shells on (as they should be, lol), then I'd serve a finger-food veg. Like roasted asparagus, or steamed artichokes. If ppl are already eating with their hands, why not go all the way?
