Friend,
I purchased a ten pack of Del Real fresh tamales from the refrigerated section at Sam's. Those tamales teased me for months, as I questioned whether I should purchase them or not. Finally, I did. They come in ten packs with an expiration date approximately three weeks from now. The $11.50 price tag means that each of these large tamales costs $1.15, or in my mind, one and a half dollars with tax, but what is not included in the price is the cost of a paper towel for each tamale. You see, to heat in the microwave, the instructions recommend you wet a paper towel and wrap it before heating for 90 seconds.
The end result was excellent. The package does not come with any extra sauce, so if you're expecting New Orleans style tamales, like Manuel's, dripping in a fatty gravy you will be disappointed. However, the meat has enough sauce and moisture to make the entire dish just the right blend of meaty and moist. One could, I suppose, add some enchilada sauce to them, but I found it unnecessary.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

I made brunch around 3:30 and we're still full.
We had biscuits & milk gravy, bacon, home fries, and pepper-jack scrambled eggs.
Mimosas to wash it down.

Wife and kids made a kind of savory king cake,
Chicken, pesto and gruyere cheese baked inside a ring of crescent rolls.
