I'm about to toss some meatloaf in the oven. I have a couple of ears of straggling end of season fresh corn that I'm gonna roast while the meatloaf is cooking, I'm going to make some whipped potatoes, and I'm going to pull some smothered cabbage out of the freezer.

Maybe not the best thread to post in cj but having a family full of cancer I’ll suggest the following.

My mother loved yogurts, ginger ales and lemonade, split pea soup for some reason and peanut butter. She ate with plastic utensils because of the metallic taste in her mouth and she always had a delicate stomach. She also loved very sweet hot tea with lemon when her mouth wasn’t sore and able to drink it.

My sister loved peanut butter, fish and sharp cheeses, vinegars because she said those were the only things that she could get flavor from and enough wine to keep her teeth red.

My father ate everything, medium rare steaks, sausages, lasagna and loved corned beef sandwiches. He refused to let his cancer interfere with his food. It was his way to flip off his cancer. I don’t think I saw him pass up anything, ever.

I’ve spent way too much time at Mary Bird and MD Anderson and two things I’ve seen almost everyone eat. Salted peanuts and real Coca Colas. My brother said it was the saltiness and the sweetness that were, for him anyway, intensified.

My mother in law ate yogurt, bananas, chocolate pudding and vodka tonics, god bless her.

May all of the above Rest In Peace and may you win your battle. Good luck and keep trying to eat. It’s a big part of the treatment as you need it for your health and strength as well.

I’m having yogurt and Bellegrade Bakery bread and my wife just made herself a vodka tonic and we lift them up and toast to all in the fight with Big Cancer.

That salmon looks great. Farm raised?

My wife decided to make another vodka tonic and now she’s toasting the cat or the washing machine or something. Good for her-she’s had a long week.

Nice job. I eat a lot of salmon. I make Mary Berry’s salmon terrine. It’s kind of fru fru but it’s easy and something different and tastes great. Plus it looks good and I put out or bring to parties.
