Check slickdeals, you can get email alerts for keywords like Weber… so you will know when somebody posts clearance deals… HD, Lowe’s, Walmart, target will have clearance sales at some point in fall/winter but you have to act fast. I’ve chased them a few times but was too late

Do you have a Sam’s club membership? Their Member’s Mark brand has new gas grills designed to compete with Weber Spirit and Genesis models selling at a fraction of what Weber is asking. The quality and construction of the grills seem as good if not better than Weber. My Weber Spirit is still going strong, but if I was in the market for a new one, I’d consider Member’s Mark.

I just sold my Weber Spirit to a lady who has a 15 year old Genesis and just wanted something newer (mine is 1 year old). I only sold it because I'm moving and am only taking my Weber Performer with me.
Webers not only last a long time, but the parts for your grill will be available 15 years from now. I don't think the same can be said about the Members Mark grill. If the burner or grate wears out, can you get a new one?

2 questions on the Weber:
Is the side burner useful at all?
And, is the sear burner worth a damn?
Bonus question, when did gas grills go for over $1K? I thought I splurged with a Yoder, jeez.

I have an older Silver with a side burner and a Genesis with a side burner & a sear burner.
I do use the sear burner occasionally and can think of only a couple times over the past 10 years I've used the side burner.

I have a Weber Genesis from the late 80's, natural gas with side burner. Have replaced internal parts twice. It's outside, exposed to the elements and has always had a cover on it. Beast of a machine.

It's useful for some things, but it comes down to a cost/benefit analysis. I have a side burner on my Weber gas grill, and rarely use it. In the 3 years I've had it, I've maybe used it 5 times. I bought mine used though. If I was in the market for a brand new grill, I wouldn't even consider one with a side burner unless it was a deeply discounted floor model. Some people swear by them though.

I like it, but I mostly only use it when I sous vide a steak or pork chop. It works great for that. It does okay for reverse seared steaks, but I could also probably live without it. It probably has some other applications I haven't explored, and I think they come standard now so it's not really an additional cost like the side burner.

It's insane. I have a Summit series and they start at around $2,000. No way is it worth that much. They are durable grills though, with readily available replacement parts, so they'll last a long time.

As discussed before, the new Webers are not as durable as the older ones. And lots of stories of warranty parts being out of stock.

Gas grills have been over a grand for a long time. My Dad bought a DCS for $3500 about 15 years ago, but he can no longer find replacement parts, so he got rid of it.
A Weber Genesis is the sweet spot, right now, IMO. You can get a solid grill for under a grand that will last you forever, get outstanding Weber customer service, and find replacement parts 20 years from now.

That said I paid over $1000 for it in November 2020 at Goodwood Hardware but that included assembly and delivery to St.Amant. Love it. Use it at least 4 times a week. Side burner supplies enough heat to fry and cook Jambs in my 6 qt cast iron pot.
