Waiters at restaurants not introducing themselves anymore?

Seems to be trending at your “everyday” places
We have been empty-nesters for almost a year now and naturally have been eating out quite a bit …. and not necessarily nice restaurants.
But 3–4 times a week for dinner.
We’ve noticed that the nicer steakhouses and seafood places still have the waitstaff introduce themselves when they first walked through their table, but for the most part at all other restaurants they just walk up and immediately ask us what we want to drink.
I guess this goes hand-in-hand with the other posts on the OT around customer service and general dying a slow death.

Peak Macoroni Grill when the waiter would write his/her name in cursive upside down in crayon on the white paper covering the table cloth.

Welcome to the new generation. They don't really want to bother with you, but they want your money. You say thank you and instead of their reply being the traditional YOU ARE WELCOME, they respond 'NO PROBLEM'.
We now have the culture of a lowly third world country. Law & order, and general societal standards are being erased (in all seriousness). Welcome to King Barack's America. Hopefully, we as a nation can see a rebirth in culture and standards thanks to President Trump. Now we need only wait for the inept Repubs to 'grow a pair' and act.

Meh, half their customers probably don’t even look up from their phones.
Just know the menu and be quick with the drinks & food.

Arguably the most egregious thing I’ve ever read on the food board and I’ve been posting here for almost 20 years.

This upcoming generation is so used to caller ID identifying themselves

Such an awful trend.
If it's going away, it can only be a good thing.

I agree. And we’ve been exposed to OTIS2’s posts for a long time.

I don't give a shite what my waiters name is , bring me a beer.

Exactly
Honestly, when I was waiting tables I never gave my name because my arse was not ending up in some turd's Yelp complaint if something went wrong.

Thank you President Trump for making little Braxton introduce to himself to me, like a real patriot, before he brings me my beer then thanking me for it!
