Can we please go on to the next big thing? Super-hopped NEIPAs had their time in the spotlight.

These "craft" beer folks see you people as easy marks.

Yup. I gave up on the scene. I'm a grown-arse man, I can't be at a certain grocery store at 3 p.m. on a Wednesday when cases are coming off a truck. I'm not going to show up at a brewery at 8 a.m. on Saturday and stand in line for hours just to have a chance to buy a beer. If the Lord wants me to have the 2018 BCS, there will be a couple of bottles at Calandro's when I go to buy stuff for dinner. Or they'll have some on tap when I drop by the Bulldog or Avenue Pub.

No, it sure isn't. But $22 sure as hell is.

Why should the consumer pay for their "donations"?

What about $22? I can sort of understand $17 for like the DDH Ghost. If the material costs are much more upfront, then fine. But it's really hard to justify $22. I, unfortunately, paid $21 for a 4 pack of 16 oz. cans the other day, mainly because i thought the beer would be interesting and i didn't know the price until checkout. The beer was...meh. But i got 16 more oz. out of that 4 pack than these $5.50/beer 4 packs Parish is pushing out.

That's not a donation, that's a fee.

That's why i like when Fall comes around. I still love a well made Octoberfest/Marzen/Festbier. The only downside is the pumpkin spice beers come around that same time too.

This one is 16oz cans btw. But still a ridiculous price for a single IPA

I'm sure it'll be good but I'm not a big fan of the way they've marketed this as a big fundraiser for hurricane michael victims. They're hiking up the price so the consumer pays the extra $5 that'll go to the hurricane relief and they get to use it as a tax break. ETA: I'm not an accountant and have no idea if they can use it as a tax break, just an assumption.

I can tell you’re no CPA.

Unless they mark your receipt that a portion is donated so the individual can use as a tax deduction that is exactly what they are doing.

And consider none of the brewery releases go through distribution so they pocket that markup as well.

And the cash only bar-how much of that actually gets accounted for?

They are making it coming and going.

Well that is more palatable.

I agree. But i prefer a single IPA than double IPA's any day of the week. Not a fan of boozey beer. That being said, I wouldn't pay $22/4 pack ever again, unless it was some sort of mixed ferm sour or something.

Just did the math. Ghost, for comparison, is about .29/oz. OJD is about .35/oz. So about a 17% increase for this beer, assuming this is 16 oz. cans.

I just don't participate in things like this anymore.

Still going to drink plenty of craft beer, but what I can find at the local stores or get at the local taproom is perfectly good enough for me.

It’s an old trend but it’s still hard to beat a good IPA

Have a buddy that's going to try and get a case for 6 of us to split. Not surprised by the cost, but hell a portion is going to a good cause. I realize thats how much 4-packs of 16oz cans are going for in other markets, I just hope this doesnt become the standard down here and for Parish too.
