I thought you lived in New Orleans...why do you have ground veal from a bucher’s shop in Florida?

You're such a POS. You hate him because he can posts both entertaining and useful things. Something you could only dream of

Dorignacs will get you the meats you need. No need to import from Florida. Nice job otherwise. Good call on Terranovas sausage, though.

Can you share what makes your maw maws different?

Well, your red gravy close, but not what my Louisiana Sicilian MawMaw made in Independence and her Mom made before her. And my Uncle Greek was friends/business associate with Mr. Marcello. Before I moved to Ohio, 30 years ago, I spent the day in her kitchen taking notes and taking my childhood Sunday red gravy with me.
My grandfather is from Independence
We add sugar (not a lot) to our sauce
Also add potatoes & boiled eggs

Close but like others said missing onions and sugar
Posted on 2/8/20 at 8:20 pm to CuyahogaTigerJr
I would put onions. If you use the right kind of tomatoes and cook your tomato paste down so it gets a bit brown and sweet, there’s no need to add sugar. I’ve heard of some old country Sicilians who will toss in a sweet potato, though.

Yep. Grate the onions and brown the tomato paste (brings out the sweetness) before adding the canned tomatoes

Onions are superfluous and add no flavor. Browning the tomato paste is a must.
I forgot to mention that this is quite a messy undertaking. Make sure you wear an apron. I wore this Santa apron. Never too early to start preparing mentally for next Christmas.
Fetching, isn't it?

Truth be told, one of my good friends as a child was the grandson of a very well known organized crime figure. I did not realize until later in life the connection, and it shocked me.
Isn’t this the reason you hate Jones?

I read that and was like. Hmm.Whats up LL
Posted on 2/8/20 at 9:29 pm to LouisianaLady
Why would you think I hate my good friend Jones?
Posted on 2/8/20 at 9:39 pm to TulaneLSU
TulaneLSU, I would be happy to stop by with some Tupperware to give you my honest opinion of your meatballs. While I’m sampling you could tell me more about your po boy tours,
Yours in hunger,
Legion of Doom.

Finally, you produce a post of value.

IDGAF what board it’s on, a Sunday gravy post with pics is immediately that board’s best thread.
In a similar vein, I find that no matter what board I’m on I’m always downvoting your stupid arse.
