Transporting already grilled steaks and re-heating them

Well, this is a weird one.
My sister had a baby this week. I offered to come on by and my wife and I would bring dinner to help them out...I meant pick something up
When I asked what she wanted she replied "Grilled Steaks"
I asked...umm I don't recall seeing a grill at your place do you have one. She does not.
obviously I could cook some for her range top or just do something else.
But is it feasible to grill them at my house to maybe rare or subrare, and then bring them over to her house (15-20 minute drive), reheat them range top or oven and not have them dry the frick out or overcook?

I'm thinking doing them on the stove in a black iron skillet would be several orders of magnitude better than any attempt at trying to finagle a "grilled" steak out of this situation.

Stove is probably your best bet.
You could get one of those small, cheap charcoal grills and cook them on that.

Let's call this the delayed reverse sear.

I reheat leftover grilled steak all the time on my stove top. No problem.
If it's only 15-20min. why not just grill and use the travel time to "rest". If it's a big steak that you plan on slicing you can slice at their house and warm the sliced in a pan with butter.

You could grill them and prepare all the sides, put the hot foods in an ice chest for the ride and serve as soon as you arrive. Not optimal, but it will likely fill the desire for grilled steaks.
When my niece had a baby during Covid, my sister made a steak meal, wrapped it all up, met the husband in front of the hospital who brought it all to the room. My niece and her husband were thrilled. It worked out just fine.

Sous vide or reverse sear.
Sear either on the stove (if it has the capabilities) or outside on a portable burner.
3rd option is to buy the lady a grill if she has a new baby.

I am thinking of just going big with the steak, cooking to just below rare, transporting, and slicing there with a small reheat if necessary.

How many steaks is it?
Reverse sear would be perfect for this if she has a decent range. Bring your own cast iron pan if needed.

I'm sure your sister will appreciate whatever you bring!

I don't think that's a good idea unless she has a good hood/vent set up. I wouldn't want to set off the smoke detector with a new born who has just been brought home.

It's not grilled, but your solution may be a prime rib that you can hold and perhaps carve before eating.

You don't need to create the perfect sear using ultra high heat. Just medium high to get some nice browning. Even sacrificing some nice medium rare interior is fine obviously in a situation like this.
Or use an outdoor burner as I previously suggested.

Bring a crawfish burner and a big cast iron skillet. Put your deflector shield over the jet if your burner has one. Grill the steaks at their place on that. You'll get a really good sear with only a little bit of heat out of the burner.

Sous vide to rare and ice bath them. Pat dry and sear at bunchess’ house

If they must be pregrilled, I would try the brisket/pork shoulder technique of tightwrapping them in aluminum foil then thickly wrapping them in 2 beach towels. Stick that in a small ice chest and hope for the best. It's no guarantee small cuts will hold heat long enough, but it's your best bet I think. Reheating them will be worse.
IF you do prefer to reheat, put a bowl of boiling water in a 275 oven and wait for it to fully steam up. Stick the steaks in there and check every few minutes for them to warm up.
ETA: Just seeing it's a 20 minute drive. The ice chest method will be perfectly fine for a short drive like that. I would go that route

This may be a moot point because my wife just said "Just fricking order Ruth's or something to go"

Portable gas grill at Walmart for $30. Grill on site, and leave the grill for them to use going forward.

I would be most happy with that!

It was a ridiculous request to begin with considering she doesnt have a grill
