Yesterday Google said it would open September 16 (today) and now it's saying September 23

Anyone have info on this?

EDIT:

Wasn't trying to disrespect those affected by Hurricane Ida. BR wasn't crushed like other parts of the state, so I didn't think that would cause much of delay, if that was the case.

Ida thought that the recent hurricane would delay the opening

Both the main alcohol distributors were hit hard with the storm

You’ve never been to Home Depot, Costco or even Albertsons I suppose?

Sure do… what’s your point? I just stated a simple fact

Total wine is competition

I have the freedom to criticize them if I do choose to, Jack

We have one near my house hear in TX competing with Specs and that's exactly what I thought. "What's the big deal....another liquor store?"

I was wrong. Its a different level. You guys are going to love it.

Wouldn't be surprised. Know South La. beer distributors are far, far behind right now.

The point is you can get products at smaller places than HD,Costco or Albertsons.

TW is huge and will have a larger selection than anywhere else in town. Just like HD, Costco or a large grocery store, Jack.

Sure they have a larger footprint, but as far as individual SKUs, no

Total Wine business model: make no money on any top
selling items to get people in the door to buy their private label garbage

TLDR: I hate Total Wine for no specific reason other than they're going 2 miles away from our family owned and operated 80 year old business

As a non-drinker, I can tell you that TW has a huge selection of NA beverages that you will not find anywhere else in Baton Rouge, so for that reason alone, I'm very excited for them to open.

I went into a Total Wine store for the first time the other day and was very impressed with both their wine and beer selections, but was disappointed with the sake selection, which was nothing special.

Guarantee you wont find a larger selection in any current liquor stores in Baton Rouge. Only advantage others will have is maybe some accumulated and expensive collectors stuff that doesn't fly off shelves in BR but were over purchased at places like Calandros etc. and they just have hanging out.

One of the few places I have found comparable between here, Houston, and the panhandle has been downtown Houston Specs. And nowhere in Baton Rouge touches that place either.

And it's nice not having to worry about going to Winn Dixie/Alberton's/Rouse's/etc to hope the booze you want is on sale. It's the sale price all the time at total wine

Plus their curbside pick up is absolutely amazing. Order everything from your computer and go sit in your car while someone loads it up for you

So, like every other place that finally opens in BR, should one wait a month or two months before they attempt to go to the store to shop? Nothing better than a grand opening in BR to bring in the masses for a month or so.
