Clancy’s is more of a neighborhood thing I think.

I will list my favorites as opposed to "the best" -

1. Galatoire's ( may not be the best but I love it there)
2. Commander's Palace

3. G.W. Fins (the best)

Then I will go with your 1 and 2 -

4. La Petite Grocery
5. Gautreau's

good list, but i would add Jewel of the South as a choice. every time we've been they've hit a home run.

How are you VOR?

I don't think I could pick a top 5. So many restaurants and so many different types of restaurants.

I agree with the poster above that I don't believe Galatoire's is the best restaurant in New Orleans, but it's one of my favorites and definitely my favorite of the old school restaurants. I love the food and the atmosphere. I love oysters rockefeller and theirs rock. I've enjoyed every single meal and experience I've had there and there are many. The only thing I don't love are the chairs. I enjoy a long dining experience there and, after a while, those chairs are hard and uncomfortable on the behiney.

Friend,

The last time I dined at Gautreau’s it was a most disagreeable event. With us were two friends, including the lovely mother of BigPerm. Without going into specifics it was the last time I may ever eat there.

My top 10 in Orleans Parish include:

10. Atchafalya
9. Irene’s
8. La Petite
7. Clancy’s
6. Brigsten’s
5. Doris
4. Herbsaint
3. August
2. GW Fins
1. Galatoire’s

If you opened your borders, I would put Impastato’s at number one.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Mike Anderson’s in New Orleans?
Where?

The one next to Galatoire’s closed many years ago.

Any "Top ... " list is going to be subjective based on your personal experience(s) there. For me, my top 5 meals the last decade would be in no order

Sac-a-lait
Cavan
Avo
Patois
Gautreau's

Sac-a-lait and Cavan are no longer, but if they were, we would be returning frequently

Bistro Daisy is a forgotten gem. Always a great meal and atmosphere when dining there.

Same with Clancy's

Never had a bad meal at Brigtsen's.

There are just so many great restaurants in Nola. Sometimes I wish I lived just a little bit closer.

Sac-a-lait

Whenever I'd visit my g/f, now wife in New Orleans, this was always one place I'd want to go.

The poisson fume dish they had there was a favorite of mine.

Only managed 2 meals at Sac-a-lait and they were some of the best meals I have had in the city.

Not sure what the chef is up to these days, but I would go check it out if I knew the restaurant.

Sorry I should have clarified

The topic is just a "what are your top 5" not based on anything objective

edit: wow always thought it was "la" boucherie...

I always really enjoy Mr B’s, being squarely in all that French quarter energy.

Gumbo ya ya, french bread, duck spring rolls, fried oysters, pork chop.

That may be my favorite meal in the city.
