A fresh, home-grown tomato improves any sandwich. For me, the perfect tomato sandwich is:

White Mountain bread (lightly toasted)
Duke's mayonaise
Tomato slices
A few, very thin slices of onion
Freshly ground black pepper

Hell yeah - I like a slice of American cheese on mine and the tomatoes need to be ice cold.

Don't know what it is but I hate tomato's. Unless it's spaghetti sauce, ketchup, salsa. Maybe the texture of a raw tomato, still can't figure it out.
Exact same. So gross.

Sure.

Ditch the mayo, add olive oil, fresh basil, and good quality mozzarella.

It’s a caprese sandwich. Delicious.

Why is texture a problem?

Is the gel an issue with other foods?

Absolutely! I grew German Queen Heirlooms this year and they made the best BLT’s! Otherwise, I do not go out of way to make them.
