It really is pretty shitty food. I have turned down free meals there on one more than one occasion and that is incredibly rare for me

The food sucks and the drinks are not good enough to endure the pretentious pricks of Lakeview. That would be my review.

Which one of you pretentious pricks from Lakeview downvoted me? The downvote couldn't have been based on my review of their bad food and mediocre drinks.

Again my main point is this guy eats the vast majority of his meals in chain-ey restaurants or just flat out terrible spots. Then he criticizes people for eating at chains. Dont get it. It reminds me of a preacher who rails against sodomy and gets caught giving handies behind a dumpster.

What do you mean by chain-ey? I'm just curious of examples?

Acme, La Carretta, Chimes etc...

And cruises to Europe. Dont get that. Fly to a place with a tremendous culinary environment and eat veal chops with frozen demi glace and cherries jubilee aboard a boat.

He and his wife fricking love cruises. That is very true.

He very much frustrates me with his slowness to embrace exciting food scenes and places and keeps sticking to old school, outdated places. And dude fricking loves him some fried calamari.

Nothing wrong with old school. Look at all the trends of "bringing it back to basics." That's basically old school.

Yeah, outdated is lame.

Fried calamari is delicious. Wanna fight?

Why would anyone think your in for a culinary treat at Velvet Cactus? It is what it strives to be - mass produced, fatty, greasy Tex-Mex, with a huge helping of booze on the side. I'm not knocking it - but, when I've gone there, I sure the hell know what I'm getting myself into.
Oh, and don't forget the fat, obnoxious one's love for the chain that advertises on his show - Zea's.

Overpriced junk. Got the ribs last time and 2/3 of the rib was fat. I was disgusted. The quality of that place has continually decline while the price has increased.

Handies and sodomy are apples and oranges. Or baby Ruth and yogurt.

He eats around and I believe he made it clear it was his daughters choice and it's not a restaurant made for him. Or a lot of people myself included. And he is correct about the hurry up service but I take from the review that he certainly expected it.

Tex Mex-ish meal.

I've never been to this place, but from the pics it looks like typical cheap Tex-Mex food. Unless the food is rancid or something, can it really be that bad for what it is?

Yeah. As is Velvet Cactus and Applebee's. So he talks shite about people eating at Applebee's, then he eats at a restaurant that, while not a chain, is akin to one. Two dissimimlar things that are related. Like sodomy and hand jobs. Not the same thing, but related insofar as they are sex acts.

He's terrible and has more than worn out his welcome in the New Orleans dining scene. He's a has-been.

I've only had great food there lately. Right when it opened it had its problems, but it has really turned around
