Been on a low salt diet for a while now for health reasons. I find that store bought tortilla chips are so salty as to be inedible to me.

I like tortilla chips from restaurants because usually they are unsalted, but ain't no way I'm frying them on my own.

Here is the solution to my problem. I buy theses already cooked tostadas:

Yes, you have to break them up yourself, but they taste as good as restaurant chips. They are not salt free, but there is no salt added after they are cooked.

The cost is about the same, maybe even a little cheaper.

Look out bean dip, hummus and salsa!

Lays came out with Lightly Salted chips
The plain Lays were ok but the Tostitos were perfect
I have not been able to find them since earlier in the year

Lays
Tostitos

I can usually find low or no salt potato chips, but I've never seen Tostitos low salt.

BTW, Zapp's makes no salt potato chips, but has anyone else noticed how greasy Zapp's are these days?

Which stores locally do you buy these at, and what aisle? Gonna try them out, thanks

I think most places carry them, but lately, I've been using Walmart for pick up.

Whole Foods has their brand of no salt tortilla chips that are pretty good. Price is comparable to other chips.

The El Milagro brand of chips (totopos) are unsalted—they’re the thin kind, which I prefer. Dorignacs, Whole Foods, some other local stores carry them.

I buy those quite often. Warm them up and they are quite tasty.

99.9% of people can handle as much salt as they want, just make sure you are drinking enough water. There's really no reason to limit salt

Used to be right there with ya. But it's not 99.9% and never was. Maybe 75% at most.

Now I can feel the effects of salt on my body. It causes me pain when I have too much. Not to mention my doctor has told me not to have too much and gave me reasons.

Again, that's almost certainly due to not enough water, not too much salt.

Most doctors are woefully uneducated on nutrition.

Limit your salt if you want to, it won't hurt you, but if you don't I'd try drinking more fluids first.

I don't know where you got your medical degree Dr. Mingo, but you're full of shite.

If I drink more fluids or have a lot of salt, it causes me pain. I'm not going to go into my specific ailments, but I speak from experience. For people with certain conditions, salt is very unhealthy.

Most people don't know a thing about contemporary nutrition, which is fine so I tried to help him out as I have done a ton of research on the subject. I gave him an alternative to giving something up that he seemingly doesn't want to. He was an a-hole when I did nothing but try to help him so he can go frick himself.

I wasn't going to say anything, but fried corn covered in oil is probably more of a culprit than a little salt
