This is not a troll at all, JP by itself would be one of the better food cities in America. Yeah, yeah, I get the disdain for suburban strip mall eats, but I've been mugged twice in NOLA, so I'm not a snob.

So I can lose my snob label if I get mugged ?

I doubt it, because most of of are food snobs.

I still make frequent trips to NOLA for eats, but I'm not a slow learner, I pick my sites carefully. Neither occasion was in a high risk area, just bad luck I guess.

Seriously, of course JP feeds off NOLA, but I could easily eat well never crossing without crossinbg the 17th St. Canal.

Since I've been here I've never lived outside of Orleans Parish. The only time I've been in physical danger was when assholes tried to carjack my wife and me in Jefferson Parish. They shot at me and blew out the driver's side window. So what conclusion should I draw from that?

Whatever. I've never had a problem finding a great place to eat in the actual city. I'll live with my life being incomplete if I miss out on some of the the "Jefferson Parish cross" delights.

I understand that anytime someone mentions "crime" and "New Orleans" in the same sentence, the faithful go into full denial mode, it's a sore subject. But it is what it is, pretending it isn't is foolish.

The scary part of the robbery at Patois isn't that there was a robbery, it's that it took the NOPD so long to respond, I've read 25-35 minutes. I have close relatives who live a block from there, and they are nervous.

Putting aside the Landrieu deflection (I'm busy taking down racist statues), the crime rate is alarming.

JP has good eats, and I feel safer there.

By all means, do it. I don't think anyone is denying that NOLA has crime. Generally speaking, it seems like as long as you aren't too oblivious to your surroundings, you're pretty okay.

That being said, I've stumbled around my share of shitty neighborhoods in the wee hours and I've not had a problem. I probably just look too poor to bother with.

Clearly not the poliboard, but do you honestly believe that the discussion about statues (which I think is ridiculous, misguided and should be a non-issue) has had any effect on policing or the efforts to reduce crime. It hasn't. Silly fricking argument.

Oh lawd, time for me to arm my electric fence, go to my steel reinforced safe room and batten down the hatches for the night.

They do, New Orleans has great eats.

You also think Baton Rouge has better restaurants than Birmingham. Which is one of the silliest notions ever posted on this board.
