TO the OP:

Seriously this might be the worst top 10 list you ever made.

I might even put The Joint at close to the worst BBQ in the city.

Laughable.

The Joint bandwagon is full, thanks to the Food Network and people wanting an excuse to go to Bywater. Put The Joint in River Ridge and it wouldn't make anyone's top ten.

Sounds like the same thing as you disliking something just because it's "hip." I doubt you've ever even been there.

And yes, again, you're trolling too hard. Just let your true opinions stand up for themselves. No need to interject your insecurities into a debate and create drama for the sake of watching "the hipsters, uninformed masses and sheep" get pissed off while you laugh in front of your computer screen. Quite a juvenile method of getting your kicks, boy.

Also, if you use the word "groupthink" in your response to this post I won't be surprised.

I've found both to be hit or miss. I've gotten exceptionally barbequed items at both, but I've also gotten dry shoe leather at both. I put Ugly Dog in the same category.

All three are top 10, though, given the dearth of barbeque joints in the area.

I've been to The Joint four times. My biggest complaint? The BBQ sauce. It's terrible. They leave chunks of onions in the sauces that are equally unsightly and unpleasant in the palate.

Rouge, I will get out there on the double. Thanks for the Walker's rec.

Was on Poland Avenue at the very edge of the upper 9th Ward. I think they've moved, though, but are still somewhere in that general area.

They moved a few blocks away to the corner of Mazant and Royal.

Like I always say, this is my top ten list. I encourage you to make your own. Is it so hard to believe that The Joint isn't in my top ten? I cannot stand their BBQ sauce. You like. Great. I don't. Make your own list to show us your top ten.

Solid but no Joint?

Also almost half of those places aren't BBQ.

The Joint is easily top 5 in the city.

Hillbilly
The Joint
McClure's
Squeal
Walker's

would be my top five, with BooKoo sometimes jumping in, and with Smoking Buddha on hold.

My top ten

1. McClure's, I have only had it onece, but it was the first that I've tried that was so good, I wanted to go back the next day. In fact, I plan on going there today, in like two hours. Best Beans ever, and your choice of every kind of BBQ sauce (except Texan)

2. Hillbilly, what can I say? Great sauces, great smoking techniques. Some of their sides hold them back, not a fan of the coleslaw.

3. Squeal, after trying it four times, I am convinced that no one does pork better.

4. The Joint, dam good brisket and ribs, but the sides are not consistent.

5. Walker's Southern Style BBQ, easily on of the best places in the East to eat. I wouldn't go out of my way to just get it (as there are closer and better choices) but its damn good, if you find yourself hungry and near Hayne Blvd, stop on in

6. BooKoo BBQ, they have the best BBQ nachos, the best burger and the best sauce. But why do I have them out of the top five? Because their volume is low, leading to them not smoking everything every day. While two day old BBQ can be outstanding, its still not the same as fresh off the pit.(though I have had Lee's ribs off the pit, and they are very good)

7. Saucy, now to be fair, I only tried them at a catering gig, and I didn't like the beans, but enjoyed the ribs. They are lucky Smoking Buddha closed, because they would not have survived.

8. Ms. Hyster's BBQ, to enjoy good food in NOLA, one cannot be wary of questionable areas or surroundings. Ms. Hyster's is close to the CBD on a rough stretch of Claibourne. Very good and pretty inexpensive.

9. Michael's BBQ (On Gentilly)
Stopped here once on way to the fairgrounds, and had decent pulled pork. Want to try it again but never got around to it.

10. Billy Bob's. The only BBQ on the Wank I have ever tried it was Okay, but nothing phenominal

if you guys dont understand by now, he'll omit an obvious great place on his top 10( in this case the joint) in order to cause an uproar. This happens in every one. You'll also see the addition of some place that sucks (see Whole Food hamburgers, chik fila chicken sandwich, etc) just to get the threads to go over 1 page.

The Joint is easily top 3. Vodoo blows. If you want a chain, go with Corky's. They are better than 5 on that list.
