Thanksgiving emergency.

99% our thanksgiving plans have changed due to a hospitalization in the family which will prevent us from traveling to be with extended family (where the food is). Anyone know of anywhere to buy a pre-cooked dinner in Baton Rouge at this late date? I’m sure there’s no such thing as a thawed turkey anywhere. Might have to make do with chicken and whatever we can throw together on the next 36 hours.

It’s a process. May be coming home tomorrow morning or even Thursday. Depends on progress tonight.

If you’ve got time to kill at the hospital, I’d call Franks, Couyons in Port Allen, and grocery stores to see if they’re still taking orders.

Fresh Market had full heat and eat turkey or ham meals, but it looks like pre order has ended. We got a spiral ham and some sides there last year that were good. Give them a call and see if they can pull something together.

i think the specialty meats places, Chris', bergeron and such do full meals, same with Franks, Ralph's etc..

Maybe you could buy a breast, some thighs, wings and drumsticks which would thaw much more quickly than a whole turkey.
I also suggest trying Bergeron's or some grocery stores for some sides and maybe even turkey or ham. Rouse's may still be taking orders.

this is when you switch gears and just do a good meal and forget about the thanksgiving staples
make a jambalaya, or gumbo, or maybe something like white beans or sweet peas and bake a ham

I've had to "scale down" ever since my kids have grown and flown and don't always make it back for Thanksgiving.
Best hack I've found is buying smoked turkey by the pound from a bar be que place and then get "dressing" and sides that go together really easily ( jazzed up stove top and canned yams topped with brown sugar and pecans sort of thing) from the grocery store. Grab a couple of pies from the bakery or frozen aisle and boom!

Costco had a pile of fresh turkeys and about a dozen pre-made full dinners earlier today.

Some families do steakhouses. I'm sure you could pickup from any of them.
Looks like whole foods is doing orders through end of day today. Not sure which Store you're in but at Arabella station looks like still have a beef wellington meal or a roast turkey meal

Copeland's has pre-order Thanksgiving meals. They're good.
