Texas Hill Country Winery/Brewery Recs

It looks like we may be heading to the San Antonio area over New Years and were wanting to spend a day stopping at some of the wineries and breweries in hill country. There are so many to choose from I was hoping the F&DB may have a few favorites.

A few places that stood out from my trip out there a few years ago were:
Torr Na Lochs was a very enjoyable and picturesque winery
Save the World Brewing Company, owners have ties to NOLA
Flanigan's Distillery for whiskey and an awesome tasting experience if you get to sit down with the doctor himself.
Honestly, there were so many good places that we went to though.

Thanks for the recs. I should have clarified that we are trying to stay more on the San Antonio side of the area. But we may get a wild hair and head to Austin.

Real Ale Brewing in Blanco, TX has some great brews and a nice taproom, the Devil's Backbone Tripel is 8% so get a DD.

Like the poster above, I like Real Ale's beers alot.
My wife and her girlfriends enjoyed Deep Eddy Vokda's place just SW of Austin and Becker Vineyards in Fredericksberg.

Rough Diamond brewery is near Real Ale and does much better beers than Real Ale IMO. Their tap room is more Mom&Pop than the corporate generic feel of real ale and has good outside seating. Cibolo Creek Brewing in Boerne is another great spot with really good food.

i live out this way, can't believe Garrison Bros. hasn't been mentioned.
I have friends from Kentucky who say Garrison Brothers makes better bourbon than many of the top tier Kentucky distilleries(buffalo trace, blanton's) and haven't tasted all of them, I agree. The single barrel Garrison Brothers is phenomenal.
Jester King is an awesome farmhouse style brew pub experience and what's so unique about them is they use the wild fermenting process(open air) and I all their ingredients are local/native.
Aldstadt is a really cool new giant bavarian style brewery that's built like a freaking castle. Great food, good bear and quite an experience as well.
ETA: reviewing what's been previously mentioned, i'll have to politely disagree with the following recommendations as they are rather mediocre compared to what's offered in the area:

save the world

Garrison is a neat novelty and worth the trip. It’s not that good of a bourbon. While you are out there, Pedernales Winery and Narrow Path are just down the road.
Check all the places because a lot are closed on Mondays, Tuesdays.
