re: Texas Hill Country Winery/Brewery Recs
That’s a lonely rock you are trying to die on.
It’s mediocre bourbon that a lot of folks buy and think is neat because it’s from Texas instead of Kentucky.

Very expensive.

Deaf, dumb or blind, they ain't that great. I'm a proud Texan but there isn't a Texas distellery that can hang with the Kentucky aand Tennessee Boys.

Balcones makes the best brown in the state. Garrison is overpriced Kentucky Deluxe

Grape Creek
Great winery, but nowhere near San Antonio.

Dry Comal Creek up in New Braunfels is fun, if you are looking for a winery within 45 minutes or so.

If you are traveling that far, Driftwood is a better winery with a better view.

I agree. I have yet to find a beer from Real Ale that is not (at least) very good. But Blanco may be outside the area you have in mind.

Appreciate all of the info! Has anyone ever been to Singing Water Vineyards or Bending Branch Winery? I think the plan is to do Cascade Caverns in the morning then head to Boerne for lunch and then to both of those after lunch. It doesn't seem like there is much else that way.

I see Kinematic Brewery is also out that way but it looks like they are closed for COVID.

If those places suck we may end up redoing our schedule.

Not sure what your plans are, but if you really wanted to have decent wine, you'd be better off getting out of San Antonio either to Driftwood, William Chris, or Grape Creek. Grape Creek, while really good, if very popular now, so you really need reservations.

I'd recommend reservations at any of the popular wineries.

If you aren't really interested in good wines, they sticking around San Antonio is fine. Although SA is in the hill country, when people ask about Hill Country wineries, we usually think of Fredericksburg and others along the wine trail.
