Swordfish might be my favorite fish to cook now.

Tried it out for the first time catching a decent price at HEB a couple weeks ago vs me normally cooking Tuna or Salmon. I'm sold on it and think it's going be my go to fish moving forward. Super light tasting fish and naturally semi sweet absorbs flavors well so adding some lemon juice, black pepper, garlic, some butter and olive oil on red hot skillet to blacken it and wow absolutely amazing.
If anyone has anymore suggestions on how they like to prepare it please share them.

It is a nice fish that goes on sale for super cheap quite often.

Watch out for that mercury poisoning.

I've never cooked it myself, but I tend to avoid it in restaurants because I always find it overcooked. Maybe I should try it at home sometime.

Good grilled too.

Delicious fish but as mentioned above very high in mercury.

How is the flavor and texture compared to Chilean Sea Bass? My goal is to find a good substitute because that is my favorite fish but it is expensive and not always readily available.

Not at all the same, IMO. Swordfish is tougher and more steak-like, whereas sea bass is white, flaky, and mild.

One of the best meals I have ever had was a swordfish meatloaf with onion marmalade, rare roasted partridge breast in raspberry coulis with a sorrel timbale.

Swordfish is great but like others have said, it has a high mercury content. Chermoula would be great on it, as it is on most any fish.

So what's the problem with Mercury in fish w/o reading too much up on it?

Much more affordable, similar in sweetness and mildness to CSB as far as flavor but closer texture to Tuna but more tender. Definitely enjoyable and not a fishy fish if that makes sense.

I remember you mentioning that meal on here. It was the night love won and y'all could marry, if memory serves.

Walleye will always be my favorite. But I like swordfish just fine. I prefer salmon.
I’ve never tried monkfish. I need to try that sometime.

Monkfish is that Alien looking thing under the glass correct?

Go catch one and eat it! I love swordfish grilled and pan-seared. It's great!

No sir I'm a land lover that gets nauseous if my bath water moves too much. I'll leave the fishing to you and the crew while I stay back play golf and cook it for dinner later

Yeah, it’s a freaky looking fish. I’ve seen chefs on tv cook with it. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen it for sale in a store. But then I haven’t looked. I know of some Asian markets that have all kinds of exotic stuff so maybe it’s available and I just haven’t noticed.
I don’t think I’ve ever tried flounder, either. But I’d probably like that. I like all kinds of seafood other than canned tuna like Starkist. That’s gross. But I’m fine with raw tuna in sushi or a lightly seared tuna steak. (Seriously, Starkist tuna should only be fed to cats.)
I don’t know if geoduck qualifies as seafood but I’ve never tried it and I’d like to try that too.

Got the food chain thing and get the further up food chain more ingested just wondering side effects for Humans if too much mercury in bloodstream?
I don’t eat it all that often but have a few time in the last few weeks so maybe I should limit to 1 to 2 times based on what ur saying. Probably it’s like anything else healthy parameters are different for everyone on anything
