Meh, forget it. Not that big of a deal. I thought it was some secret OT 10 I wasn't aware of.

I read this entire thread and it did not disappoint.
I’m always glad when BR gets a new restaurant that is a little different, and I won’t completely dismiss a place I’ve never been, but man this place seems to check every box of “overpriced and underwhelming douchefest”

This is what everyone has been saying when the knights come here to support the restaurant because, “you haven’t even been yet!”
It’s two things here:
-intentionally trying to be douchey
-doing it unintentionally, and somehow checking off all the boxes while being completely underwhelming in the stuff they should be standing out with
It’s bizarre

Envy. As I said in another post, the only thing worse than people with money is the people who whine about the people with money because they are envious.

This is truth, but that was 20 years ago. I'm in my late-40s now. My love of beautiful women has not wavered, however.

Made it there last night. Place was bumping, a few d-bags but was refreshing to see something new in BR. There was no cocktail menu however they rattled off a few things. I stuck to martinis, all prepared well. Wifey said her blueberry lemon drop cocktail was good. We started with a Seafood tower. Oysters, crab, prawns and lobster. Meat was top notch however they only served with cocktail sauce. I'd think a drawn butter and mignonette would be a nice addition. Market price was 45 a person, which I thought was fair for the quality. Side note (The new restaurant, Miss River, at the Four seasons in New Orleans has the best seafood tower I've had in a while). I had the Patagonian toothfish, wife the lobster pasta. Lobster pasta was very bland. Sea Bass was amazing, would order again. We had a great Sauv Blanc during this course. We then jumped into the A5, it was as good as any I've had at various Nobu's and other high end Japanese places. Parker house rolls were on time, the butter reminds me of the butter at Fishers upstairs. Sommelier paired the course with a really nice Pinot. We capped the meal off with the butter cake. While the creme brulee seems like the popular desert we did not need anything nearly that size. Butter cake was very good. Overall I could see myself rolling in there for date nights, special occasions and when I need to entertain for business. We were in there for a little over 3 hours, we drank and ate very well. Bill with 20 percent tip was a little over $700. You could easily tone back to half that and leave just as full and buzzed forgoing A5 and a 90 dollar seafood tower. I think the place does well this summer, then football\holiday season carries them into next year. The real question will be after carnival season will people still pile in there, I could see this becoming the preferred hangout during session. Overall I think the experience was great, they definitely have a few newly opened jitters but if they are able to keep the menu fresh, focus on quality, I think they can attract non d-bag folk to keep coming back. I sure hope so, this town needs some nice shite…..

Good review. I'll be there tonight and we will add some more info.
My initial thought is to laugh at this but I'll see tonight.

This right here is why I will never be going, and why this place is set to fail. That is 2 or 3 Michelin star prices not bland lobster pasta and seafood tower prices. How many Baton Rouge residents are paying that, or half that even, numerous times a year and how many are paying that even once a year.

I’ll probably go once, just because, but I agree. I’ve absolutely paid that much on dinner for two, but it was always for very high end coursed menus in very expensive cities. This price point is a big ask considering the menu. But hey, could change my life. I doubt it, but I suppose it’s possible

Thanks for the review. Everyone has different tastes, values, etc, so I'll be seeing for myself in a few months.
My main question is this - did they fix the misspellings on the menu yet?

$700 is what i'd expect to pay at French Laundry in California. How many people?

French Laundry is probably going to cost you a cool thousand these days, but I just checked, and Gabriel Kreuther is currently $245 a head without wine pairing. So as long as you didn’t go crazy with drinks, you could come in under $700 for two.
And that’s a 2* restaurant in Manhattan
