Sorry if this has come up already (searched and did not see anything) but has anyone heard about The Supper Club? Not open yet but they have a web site.

I think that’s Brandon Landry’s place. Hopefully it’s liked more than Walk-Ons is by this board.

It does. I still made a reservation for May 27. I’ll report back.

Supposedly it’s one of only a few places in the US serving premium wagyu (?) from Japan. They had to go through some process to be approved for it.

This is just what I’ve been told. Could be bullshite.

I really don't think this place will last. Their website comes off as stuffy and douchey. Their is "corporate" money around BR and Louisiana, but a lot of money people here aren't the usual stuck up nose in the air types. They may be arrogant and rude, but they are still Louisiana and free living. This will be prom date central and douches trying to impress.

Available steak toppings are called “Arm Candy” on their menu and sides are “Side Pieces”.

Nope.

Will be interesting to see what the prices for menu items will be. I think having a good dining option is great, but at the end of the day this is still Baton Rouge.

Perfect location though! With a Sonic in front of it, we will have a place to settle our differences close by.

ETA: Why is this thread anchored?

Love the supper club idea. I’ve been to two in Wisconsin and the experience was unique.

Culture being what it is, I do not think BR will support it, or even that those going know what a supper club is.

Their menu looks hip and like they are trying to be cool. Odd that in South Louisiana their seafood offerings are lobster, sea bass, scallops, and salmon.

Regardless, I welcome the new concept and would love to see it work. But I have a lot of skepticism and wouldn’t put any money on it working. We shall see, good luck to them.

Unless I’m missing something, I don’t think it’s an actual supper club with memberships and whatnot like you’re thinking. That’s just the name of it.

A supper club is not a membership place, it's a place where you go and spend the whole evening. I was told by some Wisconsin folk that it started off as memberships but nobody has that anymore. True or not, that's what they told me. They also said a soup/salad and dessert always came with the meal and that was a staple of a supper club.

It's not a regular restaurant model that pushes you in and out and turns over the tables quickly for the next dining party. You go, relax, hang in the bar for a while. When you're ready to dine, your table is waiting for you. After your dinner, you go back to the bar and spend more time socializing. The two I went to had lounge areas with couches and comfy chairs just so you can sit around and be there all night. It's kind of like having dinner at a family member's house. Very relaxed with no time limit.

The bars are supposedly known for their old fashions.

Yes, I heard this as well. The first time I went, I did ask if the bartender can make me an old fashion. More of a polite way of ordering than asking the question. The people I was with began laughing. I looked at them confused and they told me that the old fashion was their specialty. That's what they were known for. Thus, I learned something new.

I can't remember if I had brandy or not. The old fashion didn't stand out in my memory.

Speak for yourself, I will definitely be giving it a try and if the food and service is good, Ill be rooting for it to succeed. Just because a place is nice and elegant doesn't mean that the people that enjoy eating there are

. Sometimes some people want a true fine dining experience. But In Baton Rouge because of $$$ Everyone wants to cater to drunks in shorts and flip-flops or dumb asses with jeans hanging off their asses. If I'm a snob or stuck up for not wanting to be around that when I'm paying a premium price for a meal. So be it! Free living be.....

Dress Code:

WE STRONGLY SUGGEST COCKTAIL ATTIRE. FOR MEN, WE RECOMMEND COLLARED SHIRTS AND SPORT COATS, WITH ACCEPTABLE JEANS ALLOWED. TO ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCE FOR ALL OF OUR GUESTS, WE CONSIDER ATHLETIC ATTIRE, SHORTS, HATS, FRAYED CLOTHING AND FLIP-FLOPS TOO INFORMAL FOR THE DINING EXPERIENCE WE PROVIDE. DRESS CODE POLICY IS AT THE DISCRETION OF MANAGEMENT AND IS STRICTLY ENFORCED.

Hallelujah!!!
