Frontera brand salsas are pretty good. Not overcooked like so many of the jarred products. Still has some zip.

Stop by the produce section and get a container of fresh pico de gallo. WalMarks has it. If it isn’t hot enough, just add some jalapeños.

Publix Medium Deli Salsa. GOAT. (For store made salsas)
Posted on 1/8/20 at 5:55 am to lsuoilengr
Get ANY store bought salsa, even the Pace crap.
Dump a pint of store bought salsa into a mixing bowl.
Add 6-8 chopped green onions.
Add 1/3-1/2 a bunch of chopped cilantro.
Squeeze 1/2-1 whole lime over it.
Add as much chopped pickled or fresh jalapeños as you want.
Stir up and be amazed how damn good the salsa now is.

I usually get Cousin's, and add a bit of sriracha for heat. Works for me. I'll have to try Mateo's.

Lately we've been buying Pepperland Farms Salsa.
You can find it at the most of the local grocery stores in south LA.

Try Julio’s varieties in the refrigerated section.

Cousins (same company that makes that bomb arse creole tomato dressing) makes a damn good salsa. If they don’t have that I’ll grab Julio’s, those are easily the top 2 from the grocery for me.

Most in the refrigerated set will be better, but be careful. Some are absolutely terrible so there's a lot of trial and error. Julio's is solid but nothing special. I grew up on Albert's so I'm biased, but I love it still.
But the 100% GOAT store bought salsa is lucky habanero and it really isn't close. Once you try it, you'll know. It's available at sprouts in the deli section with all the other salsas and dips. The original hot is great, but the private reserve is just okay. The best is the dragon lips. Amazing heat with incredible flavor. Always tastes homemade because the ingredients are only what is necessary to make good salsa. No extra crap or preservatives. Just produce and spices.
Anything in a jar is pretty much trash. Cooked to last longer so the flavor is just off.
These 2 brands are exceptions that I would buy in a pinch if I didn't trust the refrigerated set and didn't have time to make my own. Royitos is the better one IMO and again, like the lucky habanero, the ingredients are only what's necessary to make salsa. No shite you can't pronounce. It's only tomatoes, peppers, lemon juice, and salt and kicks the shite out of 90% of the shelf.
