What the hell does Florida have besides Cigar City?
lol
CC isn't even close to the best in FL.
J. Wakefield, Angry Chair, and Cycle are making some of the most highly sought after adjunct-laden stouts in craft beer right now. And J. Wakefield is big on the fruited Berliners as well -- I've only had DFPF, but it was excellent. I don't think much of J. Wakefield hops, but it's a thing that's happening. 7venth Sun for your sour/funky stuff. Cycle and Angry Chair are also dabbling in hazy IPAs, but Civil Society is really what you're looking for if you want hops. Coppertail is solid. Funky Buddha (sell out and mediocre in my opinion) continues to excite people. I've heard that Green Bench is doing good things, but I've not had much of their beer to offer much insight.
And FL is home of one of like three legit hype meaderies in the country with Garagiste Meadery.
So yeah, FL is trash I guess

As I said earlier, craft beer is not static, so if you are referring to beer in Florida as you remember it 3 years ago, then your opinion is out of date. Also, Florida is a big state and many beers in the southern part of the state may not get distributed to the northern part of the state, and vice versa. So it's may be hard to get a handle on the Florida beer scene if you spend all your time in the panhandle.
We're seeing great breweries in almost every state. Having said that, the vast majority of the breweries are mediocre or worse. I think that as a market gets saturated, it will become more and more difficult for mediocre breweries to keep their door open, so the average brewery will improve, either because a bad brewery gets replaced by a better one, or because a bad brewery will improve out of necessity. I would use Tin Roof as an example of a brewery that upped it's game.
As long as a brewery like Covington stays open and Parish can't make enough beer to satisfy the locals, then there is room for improvement, and you're going to see new breweries open and the overall impact to the beer scene will be good. I've never had Covington's beer, fwiw, I'm only going by what people on this board say about it, so if I'm wrong, so be it - it's only an analogy.
I could have had a Jail Ale in the Oskar Blues pub, if I'd have wanted it. I didn't want it. I tried a couple of OB's one off beers, which happened to be mediocre NE style IPAs.

Western Carolina. Mainly Asheville

Louisiana? Seriously? Of course there are a few standouts but LA is severely behind in the game.

Downvoting St Louis in a conversation about beer is like upvoting hormel as the best chili for your hot dog. Amateur move.

Weird. I’ve never heard of any of these places. But now I want to try them.

J. Wakefield was just at Trillium like a month ago, and his Berliners show up from time to time around town. I've seen them at Row 34 2 or 3 times.

Any list that doesn't have Colorado and Michigan on it is bullshite. North Carolina should be in there for sure too.

This USA today list has the following:
LINK
California (agreed)
Washington (agreed)
Colorado (agreed)
Oregon (agreed)
Michigan (agreed)
Pennsylvania (not sure I agree on this)
Wisconsin (not sure I agree)
New York (probably agree)
Texas (questionable)
Illinois (not sure I agree)
I'd swap out NC for one of Pennsylvania, Texas, or Illinois (even though Goose Island can be considered a pioneer, and there are other great places like Revolution, Half Acre, etc.).

We're not up there with the heavyweights, but Georgia has some great craft beer options.
Just about everyone knows about Sweetwater and Terrapin. Creature Comforts, Orpheus, Red Hare, Jailhouse, Monday Night, Red Brick, and Wild Heaven all make excellent beers.
Georgia has over 50 craft breweries now and they put out some damned good stuff.

Utah is better than several of those.

Any list that doesn't have Vermont on it is inherently wrong.

All the downvotes for Missouri are something...thanks to Anheuser-Busch, we've got some of the most liberal alcohol laws out there, and there's a ton of local craft breweries even in Columbia that are great, not to mention the handful of ones in KC and StL that pump out more volume than our smaller ones here in Columbia. Some of my favorites...
And my all-time favorite beer (which Boulevard no longer makes for some reason:

Alabama's kind of the same way. We'll never compete with the big boys, but we have some damn fine craft brewers here. We have some crappy ones as well though, as I guess most states do.

I gotta say, for a long time I was never impressed with their stuff, but they have stepped up big time over the last year with some good beers. Did they get a new brewmaster or something?

Thrillist best beer states
Nearly 300 breweries in Oregon. Most of them are not that good, but you can say that about any state's breweries.

The best brewery in the United States is in Missouri and, if it was the only brewery in the entire state, that alone would put it on any top 5-10 list. Quality over quantity any day of the week.
