From reading the FBD thread I would assume

Oregon
Vermont
California
Florida
Texas
Louisiana
Massachusetts
Virginia

not many people posting midwest beers anymore... Have other states surprised what is being put out in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, etc or some of the eastern states such as North Carolina?

I can say I personally do not trade as much because we have so much in Louisiana I can get on a regular basis.... Holy Roller, Jucifer, Envie, VooDoo, etc....

Michigan
Colorado is probably top 5
Washington State is well above Louisiana

Texas, Florida, Louisiana are probably average to below average.

My top 5 would be:

California
Oregon
Colorado
Washington
Vermont

We've got some better beers coming out of LA for sure, but you can damn near count them on two hands. We're wayyyy behind the game with plenty of room for growth.

North Carolina

Probably #1 on the list of Southeastern U.S. states. Leading the way with over 250 breweries. Now I know that quantity doesn't always equate to quality but, the fact that there are that many breweries still open is a testament to their viability.

You list Louisiana but not Colorado, North Carolina, or Maine?

Yeah, no bias there.

The LA beer scene is improving but it’s still below average (downvote away).

And a lot of ignorance in this post if you think that’s all MA has to offer.

But is there love for two of the highest ranked breweries in the country? Yeah, I wonder why.

I never said that's all it had to offer. I said that a lot of people on this board drink beers from those specific breweries. I was suggesting that MA should be on the top 5 list.

Baw? I post them all the time. Ohio has a great craft beer scene.

Texas as a whole is probably below average.

Houston is above average, IMO. And that probably wasn't the case 4 years ago.

My top-5 (in no order, you can make arguments for almost all of them):

Vermont (IMO, the inarguable #1)
California
Colorado
Massachusetts
Oregon

But then right under that you've got states like Maine, who probably has a legit argument for being top-5, Virginia, Florida, and probably that Illinois/Indiana area -- they all have multiple breweries that are making beer that is of an exceptionally high quality.

Then you have your Louisiana, Iowa, Missouri, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan type states that either just have a solid overall culture or they have one or two breweries that are hitting it out the park.

That's like half the country right there. I think what should be readily apparent is that you can pretty much find an amazing local craft option wherever you are nowadays, and that's pretty great.
