Hello

I'm looking for a good lively place in NOLA to watch LSU game Saturday. I will have a guy with me who wants to watch Bama/Arky game, as well, so need multiple TV's (and physical space from him). We'll likely have a small posse with us, some of whom will be sophisticated-types drinking good scotch, etc., so not looking for a plastic solo cup of Miller Lite joint (although I personally can dig on that, too). Any suggestions? Thanks!

Sports bar isn't the best place to score some hooch.

Food is not bad at Cooter's. Good beer selection

How big is this lard arse???

I'd throw out Rusty Nail. "quasi bama bar"

It's got an excellent take on an Old Fashioned and they have a solid scotch program.

That being said, it will be crowded. You would need to get there early.

ETA: Would only have food truck option.

Cooter Brown's will be your best bet. It can get crowded on gamedays. Might not be a bad idea to show up a little early to claim some table real estate.

Bayou Beer Garden on S.Jeff Davis: they have a wide variety of beers in bottles, canebrake on tap, a huge patio with TVs, often have live bands, and the food is pretty dang good too.

Barcadia downtown: curbside in the kitchen, a sh&tload of taps, tvs for the game, and an arcade during halftime that seems like a great recipe for putting the "game" back in "drinking game".

Thanks folks! I've not been to Cooter Brown's in years and wouldn't have thought of it (just moved to New Orleans). Keep the ideas coming if you have others!

I love BBG, but come on man.. their food is absolute shite. Would still be a solid choice for these guys .. the food is serviceable I guess if you're just looking for something to fill your belly. The bathroom isn't set up for what it may do to you though so beware. It gets really crowded so get there early if you go. Also, not sure how many games other than LSU they'd have on.

I've only been a couple times, but I recall them only having 2 or 3 TVs.

Does Bayou Beer Garden have full bar? Some of these guys will be drinking things like Lagavullen (sp?) Scotch neat, I know.

Thank you. I was about to say the same thing. It's typical frozen crap bar food. I do love that they allow you to bring your own food.

Unsure of how good of a selection they have as far as whiskey goes. Maybe give them a call and see what type of bottles they have? If you want to do Rusty Nail like O Brah said they have a damn fine scotch selection. Will be surrounded by Bama fans though.

Manning's like LE said is a good option, gets super packed though.

Tracey's. Don't think they carry Lagavulin, but they'll have Macallan & Glenlivet and the like.

BBG has some of the WORST bar food. If they could put out food even on the level of the Bulldog it would make them so much more appealing. I love the bar but refuse to eat there.

I would be happy if they had enough beer taps to justify being called a beer garden.
