Inspired by the commercial for the Whataburger Spicy Chicken sammich that asserts the spice should come from within. I tend to agree. Is it truly a spicy chicken if its a chicken with spicy sauce?

Spiced

Chick Fil A

Whataburger

Wendy's

Sauced

Popeyes

McDonald's

Zaxby's

Spiced.

It blows my mind Popeye's went with sauce when they have spicy breading already with the regular chicken.

Sauced all day. Love the sauce and it makes the texture eating it way better for me

Give me the Popeye's one with extra sauce all day, everyday over the others.

Popeyes is definitely spiced as well as sauced.

Agreed. I prefer the Popeyes sandwich with regular mayo. The spicy sauce is overkill.

Made complete sense to me. Way too much pull up-ping going on as it is - they went the easy route and I'm not mad about it. Dang fine sandwich.

Popeyes sandwich uses a totally different batter and flour than their regular chicken and tenders too. You need totally different stations to execute it. It would be a disaster any other way

And their regular chicken is marinated overnight. The spicy or mild is in the marinade. The flour isn’t “spiced”

Popeyes likely made the move to be able to make the sandwich faster and keep the drive thru line moving. Can you imagine the disaster of them trying to fry two different batches of filets for the sandwiches? Y’all joke ab the “pull up for spicy” now

I personally am glad they didn’t, that spice rub they use makes my stomach explode.

But that’s just me, I’m not expecting a national chain to make a decision based on Woolfman’s tummy
