South of Philly - Paint and Landscape Update

Went to SOP today and sadly they were closed. however, i spoke with the manager and owners and they informed me that they will not be open. but he did say they will have the outside spruced up soon, and they have hired someone to paint the building in 2 weeks. the coolest part is the person is going to paint scenes from philly around the building. they are also getting a brand new sign.
all these changes will certainly attract more people. and i know the food will win them over once they get inside

Zombie, you sound like a good dude but South of Philly sucks bad IMO. I've tried them twice, bad service both times and the food is very marginal at best. I won't ever eat there again.

i had helped a friend's dad move a pool table and he was treating us to lunch. when we rolled up they were closed we sat in the parking lot trying to figure out what to do next, and the manager came out to say they were closed. turned out their fridge broke last night and they had to throw away their entire refrigerated inventory.

i'm sorry. think i typed that wrong. he said they would have the outside spruced up soon. the manager recognized me and saw my site. the owners were with him and he thought we were coming for an official review. so we chatted for a while

what do you find bad about it? i have eaten there 3 times since it has opened and have brought different friends each time, all who have liked it. i actually like them better than the cheesesteaks i got in philly. but to each his own

I've only been there twice, but I've really enjoyed both times. Food was good, service was prompt. I've never heard anybody say they didn't like this place.

i've had it twice and think its pretty good. my friend got the smoke house with bacon and onion rings and it looked killer

My wife and I have eaten there 5 times now. Each time was great. Last time we felt like something different and tried their Shrimp Poboy (it was the lunch special that day). The shrimp were fried well and the poboy overstuffed. Service has always been stellar as well. Plus the fries...the fries are awesome.

I don't mind being in the minority on how I feel about the food at that place, but "sucks bad" was too strong of a statement, so I'll say that the food was just meh at best.

All you people writing bad comments must be nuts. It is the best cheesesteak you will find around. Fries are awesome too, and you get a MOUNTAIN of them. Service is always good for me too.

but these people are actually from philly. its not like some people from BR trying to run an athentic philly cheesesteak place. regardless i think its a delicious, greasy indulgence

i couldn't disagree with you more. the food is good quality. they use 100% ribeye, they use good cheese and vegetables, and they use really good amoroso bread. The fries are no where near average. the leave the skin on, which i like, and are fried fresh. nothing bad about the quality of food served

been 3 times. good food, great service all 3 times. building and parking look like crap, but that doesn't matter to me. good to hear they are fixing it up though.

i have yet to try it. i keep getting the tiger philly. i will be getting the smoke house next time
