Yeah, I know it's a chain, but...

went for lunch today and got the AYCE dry-rub ribs, came with 2 sides (I got mac & cheese and baked sweet potato) plus 2 slices of garlic bread and a big arse sweet tea for $12.99, and it was just as good (if not better) than the ribs I had at Rendezvous in Memphis.

It was good.... DAMN good.

I love Sonny's but, some of the snobs around here will scream bloody murder.

good food, but the place is just icky. Haven't been in years. Their baby backs are awesome.

that's one of the things I like about it. It has that "old-time" feel to it, kinda like Fleur de Lis. When you walk in, it's like taking a step back in time.

They need to move to another part of town. Food is legit, but their location keeps me away.

I have had the best and the worst BBQ there. I've ordered brisket that was tough, tasteless and ice cold. Have had pork loin which was the same. Yet, I have also had brisket and ribs which were excellent. Truly hit or miss. Except the tea--always perfection.

eleventy-- I agree. The only meat they have that I really like a lot are the dry-rub ribs.

Only dined at a Sonny's once but I was really grossed out. In all fairness is was just outside of Jackson, MS so that could help explain the condition of their facilities (or maybe they're all just as nasty). It was like eating in an old couple's house.

I used to eat at them a bunch in North FL, and, South GA. I normally don't like chain restaurants for B-B-Q, but, Sonny's offers some pretty good food and at a pretty good value.

I would definitely eat at one if there was one in TX.

Nothing wrong with Sonny's - Might be the best BBQ in BR
