As I said prior, I’m far from anti vaccine. Didn’t get it because I’m young and healthy.

It would be one thing if that was your actual position this whole time, but instead you’ve been justifying it by throwing out a bunch of Aunt Gladys forwarded email pseudoscience talking points and bullshite about the “messaging.”

Maybe if they hadn't made the vaccine political back when it was being worked on under Trump's presidency (which, I was still never planning to rush out and get because lazy), it wouldn't be such a political disaster now. But they did this to themselves.

Yes your anti covid vac stance is totally not political
at all.

Yep. It’s amazing the hoops they will jump thru to claim it’s not about pure politics for them. Find me one board certified primary care physician who recommends not getting the covid vaccine if you’re “young and healthy.” And Dr. Joe Rogan doesn’t count.

I wasn't referring to myself. I'm talking about the tons of people in this country who have decided against the vaccine for political reasons. It should have never been made political in the first place, and you wouldn't have people who probably should have gotten the vaccine refusing it.

I was the most leftiest leftie out there a little more than a year ago. I assure you.. nothing vaccine related has anything to do with who our president is I just don't really go to the doctor for much and I'm lazy. That's really all there is to it for me. Sorry if that's a boring answer.

You can define my messaging reference however you want, but I was specifically referring to how when the vaccines were coming out, it was completely acceptable for people to say, "I told my parents to get vaccinated when it is available to them, but I am young and healthy and will not be rushing out to get it." This was not controversial and was mostly accepted by people of all backgrounds.

Now suddenly those same people are somehow evil people across the board for having still stuck to that. People who were totally fine with that outlook months ago are now the complete opposite.

Its like people have collectively emptied their memory banks.

Also this thread keeps going back to vaccines and whether or not to get them, instead of the topic at hand which is sandwich shops carding you for medical information before you can purchase food. As I said, even fully vaxxed I think this is an insane way of private sector moving in on citizens and forcing them to do something they may not feel comfortable with for one reason or another. Don Lemon was just saying yesterday that he feels even grocery stores and businesses necessary to survival should be doing this. I mean, that's insane. (Also interested to see what would be asked of folks who can't be vaccinated. Covid test every single day so you can go places?)

FWIW, I don't watch Joe Rogan's show and I don't own a Facebook account.

Baton Rouge General just released a statement this morning that they’re up to 118 covid patients. A month ago they had 10. The peak was 169 in late April 2020. As of now, 44% of their covid patients are in the ICU. 35% are under 50 years old. 92% are unvaccinated. They’re opening up a 4th new Covid unit since this surge. But by all means stay young healthy and unvaccinated.

Two of my best friends, a hospital manager RN and an MD who was head of an Oschner hospital, told me I dont need it.

I'm in my 30s, not overweight, and have no prior conditions.

It's funny you bring up politics being the only factor on the other side when you seem to be describing yourself perfectly with that assessment. Trumpy lsu was a good, albeit cringy as hell, example

This is so backwards. Colleges, including Trumpy LSU, literally require you to provide proof of multiple vaccinations and have done so for years. Everyone accepts those without controversy. But because of Trumpy politics the COVID vaccine has been segregated for other vaccines.

Do you realize how easy it is to get around those vaccination requirements for school ?

Also Trump took the vaccine and made it possible for it to get to market as fast as it did
Kamala was the one who said she wouldn’t take it in the fall
Maybe that’s why black people have the lowest rates

Also I’m vaccinated but it should be peoples choice

Imagine knowing so little about science that you compare polio and small pox to covid and thinking we are going to eradicate covid with a vaccine

Ok that is really funny.

I got a vaccine in March and my thought is if it works why should I really care if some one else has it or hasn’t gotten it. If I am protected that sounds good enough.

Bottom line this uncharted territory and private businesses demanding only vaccinated people enter is probably not the best idea.
