wedding anniversary.

We saw it on the food network right after we got married and wanted to make it a goal to do it. We were dead broke at the time and just dreaming of a day when we wouldn't be.

My wife has always wanted to go to New York so we might want to go and stay there for our 10th.

Is that like $1,000 sundae?

It's your money, but damn what a waste imo! I'll stick with sonic

If this is true it might explain why they were broke and likely soon will be again

Gold is for 50th anniversaries. For your 10th, go to Dairy Queen and get a Royal New York Cheesecake Blizzard.

If you can afford it and want it, go for it. I think it'll be a letdown.

I understand the significance but think even with the history Yall would appreciate 2-3 very nice mealswhile in NYC more than one Sundae.

If you can afford those meals and everything else you may want in NYC then frick it, go for the Sundae.

Maybe just enjoy the fact that you COULD get it if you wanted to and spend the money on a few nice dinners.

I looked it up- it's just vanilla ice cream with a bunch of crap on it. And it ain't all that big. Don't do it!

Congratulations on your anniversary.. With all the great things to do in New York City and the incredible food offerings, you'll probably lose interest in the sundae which is just a publicity stunt, once you get there. Do New York. Do Serendipity. But don't do the golden opulence sundae, unless it absolutely means that much to you..

I'll echo some comments and say, it will be a let down, but it's your money so get it if you want it

I guarantee the ice cream won't be better than Jeni's

If you believe in a vengeful God, don't commit the sin. Otherwise, go for it!

There will always be a cheaper, worthwhile option, like weighing vacationing in Europe vs somewhere domestic. Assuming the money is not an issue and it's something you two have dreamed of doing since your wedding, then I'd say to do it. You can have multiple cheaper dining experiences but you may leave NY thinking "what if...?"

Does it still come with Champagne and the crystal bowl?

From the Huff Post two years ago(My quote button won't work):

"Finally, the sundae is served in a Wedgwood crystal bowl, which customers get to keep, and paired with a bottle of 2003 Dom Perignon — which alone retails for about $150."

So special is this sundae that customers eager to sample its delights must ring in their orders two days in advance to allow time for the rare ingredients to be flown in from around the world.

So a good portion of the price is shipping costs. What a waste.

Yeah, I hear you on the cost, waste etc...It's more of a sentimental thing.

We were making 30k total at first and now we are making way more than that now. So it's not going to break us but I can see how everyone would say that's stupid.

There is a reason why I'm asking and discussing this on an anonymous board than on facebook because I understand the ridicule of this.

Post this on the OT. They've all done it.

Twice.

Post on the rant and they will tell you Alleva needs to be fired.

Post on the Poli board. They are all living in Trump Tower and ice cream is for cucks. MAGA

Just do it and enjoy it.

If it's important to the two of you, do it.
