8lb Pork butt for NC BBQ, black eyed peas and cabbage.

No. I make a quick stock with the ham hock and onions and chicken base before I put the greens in and then just let em simmer for a while. Best made in a pressure cooker but I don’t always use one

Corned beef and cabbage, black eye peas and rice for the traditional New Year's day dinner.
That turkey I smoked yesterday came out great and had it with mashed potatoes, brown gravy and braised Brussels sprouts.

Smothered cabbage and pig tails.
Black eyed peas
Beef ribs
Deer roast
Buffalo chicken dip
Chili
We abandoned the NYE party and now have people over New year's day and sit around and drink and eat all day.
Don't go back to work until the 3rd

I don't know what the main dish is yet, but I do know that I'm going to get three or four heads of cabbage to smother down and restock my cabbage drawer in my freezer.

We are keeping it simple. Black eyed peas with peppered bacon ends and smoked sausage, cornbread, smothered cabbage, and pepperoni pizza.

Black eye peas, cabbage and corn bread are the tradition I have always known its for health wealth and happyness but i forgot which is which over the years meat varies but this year will be ham. me and son in law are fixin to fire up the pit and do smoked sausage and pork steaks while daughter ad wife sit inside and do some veggy and visit. me and SIL will be nipping from a fifth to keep; the cold out and ringing in the new year in fine fashion.
